W6r1 How the hell did I run for 20 minutes last week???

I took on board everything that people had warned about this run, and took it SUPER slowly. My running buddies and I set out just after 6, and there was a little bit of a cooling breeze, so it wasn’t unpleasant.

HOWEVER, I felt like I was starting all over again. I was well-hydrated, and rested, but it was ridiculously difficult! My left foot and big toe kept twingeing, I felt a slight stitch coming on (my first, since I started this programme ), which thankfully came to nothing. But, I carried on and finished the run. I don’t feel accomplished or elated, and feel a little deflated.

Nevertheless, I will go out again on Wednesday and do the next run. I will not be beaten, or let down by this recalcitrant body of mine. I WILL succeed! 🤨💪

Yes you WILL succeed, after run 3 of week 5 the first two runs of week 6 takes you back to walking intervals, interesting that it makes you feel that it's like starting at week 1, run 3 of week 6 you will like, no more walking breaks. 😊 🏃

I hope I do like it! It’s funny, because I felt I could have carried on for longer, last week. Mind you, I was listening to music for that run. I think I’ll have to do that again.

You've got this ! Of course your body will do it. Just think of the pub after w6r3 and how happy you'll be !

It’s so strange!

I’ve had feet issues too.

I’m not sure how to get back to it tbh. Wk6r1. Which I didn’t really nail or ....wk1 r1 and try to be faster

Gosh, lots of people seem to have a funny experience on this one. Well done finishing what was obviously not a highlight for you. The next one will be better, I’m sure. 😀

Good luck for Wednesday and enjoy your rest day tomorrow.

Thank you! I shall just potter about doing regular chores and build myself up for the next one. 😊

Yes you WILL succeed. 😊 AlMorr has got it right. Lots of people find W6 a push. Seems it should be easier than 20 minutes steady, but it’s not! Just proves that those intervals really are part of the training, not a rest cure.

You’ve done the right things. Hang in there and your body will adapt. All the best - you are getting there.

PS - remember Week 1 and how that felt? Perspective is a help sometimes. 😊

Week 1 WAS pretty appalling, I have to admit! I will persevere! 😊

I was the same today 1st run of week 7 - did the same amount on Saturday but really struggled today. I think we all have off days. Try not to worry too much about it. The next one will be fabulous 😊

That's interesting to hear. That one really got me too. Had to repeat it.

It's coming down from the 20 min euphoria... it is a smack in the chops. But... you will get through and you'll feel stronger for it 💪😉😁

Definitely not just you! But look forward to Week 6 Run 3 and kissing goodbye to the intervals, that was the best run of Week 6 for me, much to my surprise! Keep on going, you're doing great.

Thank you! Same to you, too!

I struggled with this one too, felt very deflated after it. W6 R2 was easier for me, but now I’m glad to be done with intervals. Go out and smash your next one, I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you! I can’t say that it has been at all easy, as I am not a born runner. However, I don’t want to be beaten! 😁
