Am I supposed to be running 5k already on week 3?

Hi, not a runner but trying to get into it. I've been doing the couch to 5k and finishing every run properly but I can't seem to get any further than 2 - 2.5k is that right? Does the distance increase when the time per run increases or am I supposed to be doing 5k from week one?

No, don’t worry about distance. You will be running for 30 mins at the end of the programme, probably not 5k. Just follow the instructions and run nice and slow 👍🏃🏾‍♀️👍

Hi, well done on doing the programme.

Most people don't finish the programme having done 5K. Concentrate on doing the programme, there'll be time to push through to 5K once you have your "running legs" on and can run for 30 mins at least

Welcome. Most people don’t even do 5k by the end of week 9. Run nice and slowly and allow the legs to develop. Don’t worry about pace or distance, just focus on getting to 30 minutes. Enjoy your journey

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and explains it all.

Forget about distance, C25K is duration based.

Enjoy your journey

Hi there! Well done for your progress so far. Distance is much less important than developing your running safely without injury. The post from IannodaTruffe explains many things and gives loads of good advice, plus lots of links to other topics which you might want later.

Have a nice read and enjoy your running. 👏🏼🎉
