Just back in from the second run of week 2. I slowed it down a little as advised but was still getting a lot of pain in my left calf but I noticed it only starts to hurt after the run? As soon as I start the walk I get a real tightness in my lower left calf muscle. It eases by the end of the walk and comes back after the next run.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Phil.

I never had calf pain but until around the week five mark my calves would ache and feel really tight. It has improved a lot now. I make sure I stretch them well after every run and that does help to ease it.
Hmm, not sure. I sip during the session but tend to drink afterwards. Maybe I need to have a good drink before then. It concerns me that it's only in one leg. I do have a weaker right knee so not sure if I'm unconsciously compensating for that and that's why irs only pain in my right calf?
Yes, I had a gait analysis and bought the recommended stability shoes. That stopped a pain I was getting on top of my foot but the calf pain remains. I really don't want this to stop me running as I'm determined to do this; I in the right frame of mind and really feel I can succeed. Lol
Well done on the run. Asymmetrical pains can cause a little worry in a runner. Is it painful in rest days too? If it doesn’t subside I’d recommend seeking a medical opinion. Post run stretches, foam rolling, and strength and flex work will all help in general, but right now I wouldn’t add anything new until we know you’re not carrying an injury.
It only hurts after each actual running part of the session. It does have a very slight, dull ache during the run sometimee but it mostly starts as soon as I go into walking part after each running period. Once I'm on the cool down walk it goes completely after around 2 minutes. It never hurts on rest days. I think a rtrip to my doctor or a physio may be in order.
