Went for my fifth consolidation run just after lunch today, prior to leaving the house it was cool and overcast, as soon as I left the house the sun came out! It was therefore too hotποΈ.
I did a steady pace, slowed near the end but did 5.2k in 30mins, I'm overjoyedππββοΈππββοΈ.
Thank you all for advice around stretching, I stretched before and the run and my calf is much better than last time.
Hope you are all well ππππ

Congratulations on that run Cockneymick, 5K in 30 minutes is very good, certainly not long now until you can run a sub 30 minute 5k, perhaps one more consolidation run and that could be 29 minutes, who knows.
You have been very consistent with all your runs, one run every second day for now the last almost 11 weeks, 4 days a week compared to mine, which were on the same 3 days a week, Wednesday, Saturday and Monday when I was doing C25K and the six consolidation runs, after that I cut out the Monday run and since then I have ran on a Saturday and Wednesday up to this morning which was my 15th virtual and second (not) parkrun
Thanks Al, exercising regularly has been my goal from the outset, reading your reply rammed it home that I have been for 11 weeks! Long may it continue ππππ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ
Dont think that I am not doing anything other days of the week, every Sunday I go a bike ride, on Mondays, Thursday and Friday I exercise and am out walking a lot, I do planks, sit ups, push ups and have a pair of kettlebells I exercise as well,
Tuesday is big washing day after I have done my main shopping of the week first thing at 8am. I walk to the supermarket, a different one since the lockdown began, walking back from it is a exercise in itself regarding the weight of the message bag, it saves me waiting for a bus as its only a 20 minute walk home.
Once you have ran one more 30 minute consolidation run you can try the Stepping stones podcasts with Laura which are pace, speed and stamina then go onto JuJu's Magic 10K plan if you want to run a 10K. That is a 8 weeks course a little like C25K, to see the plan Google "Ju Ju's Magic 10 ".
Please don't push yourself for that final consolidation run but perhaps you might be able to run a 5K in a little less than 30 minutes, the main thing is to enjoy the run, the weather is a lot cooler than last week so you maybe able to run a little faster, hence the sub 30 minute 5k, good luck. π ππΎ π
Hi Al yeah I'm gonna see how it goes tomorrow and may just stick to consolidation runs for a few more weeks. As I mentioned before my main goal was to exercise regularly which I'm now doing. I will do the Stepping stones podcast and Ju Ju's Magic eventually, but no rush! ππ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώππ
Wow! Congratulations on cracking the 5K βbarrierβ!πThatβs amazing! Didnβt take you long at all. π Nothingβs going to stop you now! ππββοΈπ’
Aw, great! ππ»π€ΈββοΈYeh, the 5k - 10k sounds really tempting post graduation. Iβm going to do plenty consolidating first though. Itβs all to look forward to! ππββοΈπ’
