After having had some calf pain after W8R3, I took it easy and worked on my calf muscles after some great advice from fellow forum members. So it was with some trepidation that with the pain no longer present, I went for a gentle couple of km walk yesterday afternoon.
No niggles, pains or aches, I thought Iโd give the run a go that evening ... the first time Iโve run evenings as I usually get up at 5am ish to complete the runs ... to hide from public gaze but also less traffic.
So, first thing I noticed there are a lot of runners round here in the evening ... and everyone of them is so polite! A nod here, a hello there, a keep it going comment on one occasion.
Music on ... pace easy and slower than before, mindful of the other day avoiding large curbs ... more traffic which was slightly distracting, but not off putting. Michaelโs words and time checks in my ears went unnoticed... I seemed to be simply running and running .. before I know it, Iโm done ! Not the fastest pace and wonโt deny, I was out of breath, but Iโd just run 30 mins!!
2 more to go!

Well done you! I feel like all runners are polite because we are all going through the same exhaustion and sometimes we need a little encouragement! I used to go out during afternoon times in the earlier weeks of C25K, but have been doing the same as you by waking up at 5am, but definitely would like to run in the afternoon now I graduated to see how it is, only issue is I live near a beach so if the weather is nice I would struggle to get a consistent pace because of people walking along the seafront ๐ sounds like you had a really good run, the best ones are the ones that whizz past, shows that you are enjoying it now. Only an hours worth of running to go and you've graduated!!
Thatโs so surreal ... an hours worth of running ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ .. so strange when you put it like that ! But true !
Iโd love to be running on a beach, seafront like you, or like Jools in such idyllic countryside ... sadly Iโm in a built up area ... but that does mean I can vary the route in and out different streets or roads ... found places I havenโt seen before and Iโve been here 20 yrs !
Thanks Jools ... you are only 4 away! ... less than 2hours of running to go (stole the time analogy from @packersruns ๐) ... definitely steady and careful from now on in
