I have just completed W8R1 and although I completed it, I didn’t find it easy, my breathing isn’t too bad it’s heavy legs. Is there something I should be doing that will help with heavy legs and will the long runs get easier. I feel so good about myself with each run that I do because I never in a million years thought I would be running so far.
Nearly there: I have just completed W8R1 and... - Couch to 5K
Nearly there
firstly congrats on your progress!
how is your hydration? my legs feel awful if I don't drink enough water
also, do you do any physical labour the day before (I once was sawing up wood and digging holes in the garden and nothing wanted to work the next day
Thank you for replying. I did wonder if it’s hydration, I try drinking as much water as I can but I am not a big fan of water, sounds silly but it takes my breath away😳. Will try and drink more see if it makes a difference
I drink 3 litres a day, (ugh, sounds horrible, and I also am not a fan of water), but I reasoned that I am awake for roughly 18 hours a day and 1 litre every 6 hours is reasonable for my body's hydration.
I never used to drink much water, but now I do I really feel the difference in my energy and my body (and the track that I've worn walking to and fro to the toilet
I don't like it either, but you need to get at least 2 litres of fluid in, which is an effort ( for me at least)
I take a bottle in my car, drink half going and half coming home from work- a 500ml bonus -, I also find it easier to drink at room temperature.
I have also bought a bigger mug for my tea, so that's another extra 150mls per drink, they all add up!
I assure you, it does help with heavy legs🤩
Well done! I am finding you all so inspirational as I’m only just finishing week 4.
I just can’t drink water so it’s diluted juice for me and I also can’t drink too much otherwise I am desperate for the toilet all the time and half way around the workout isn’t convenient
Well done, you're doing great! Not got any specific tips on heavy legs but just want to say that each long run gets easier, generally, so by the end of the week, it might feel better. You're still building stamina and muscle. Maybe take an extra rest day between runs and see if that helps?
