Been doing so well since my graduation but tonight had to stop at 20 mins just so over hot , should I give it a days rest or re run tomorrow
Rubbish run : Been doing so well since my... - Couch to 5K
Rubbish run
I'm not an expert but I would say rest, it sounds like it was a hard run. Can you run at a different time of the day when it's a bit cooler? No idea if it's feasible for you but just a suggestion.
20 minutes is nothing to be sneezed at though, still a pretty good time to run
Rest, because you ran for 20 minutes today which may be less than you intended but is still a significant run. If you’re still a recent graduate you shouldn’t run on consecutive days.
We all have them. ☹️ Take a rest day and put it all behind you. Doesn’t matter at all in the great run of things (sorry about the pun! 😂)
I find that getting too hot is the factor that limits my post graduation runs. Now the weather is warmer and the days longer I feel most comfortable running early in the morning. But I do still struggle to run for 30plus minutes some days. I just keep telling myself even 20mins continuos running is so much more than I could have done a year ago. Be easy on yourself
Thank you all . Well rest tomorrow and go for it on Wednesday
Rubbish run? You ran... so that’s a great run. A five minute run is a great run sometimes, so 20 is 4x greater. As the temperatures are rising it’s getting a little tougher out there, but every bit of running is going to help us get used to it. The only rubbish runs are the ones we skip... every run we start makes us better for the next run. So, you didn’t hit your goal today, that’s OK. I missed a 5 miler by a whole mile... I was annoyed for a moment... then I thought that the mile I couldn’t run that day was the mile that not long ago I could never run. You’re a new runner... celebrate the 20!
Rest up. Recoup and get back out when you feel ready. If it's hot slow down and take water. Get your self a cap..keeps the sun off your head. 😎
My last long run was 15k in the midday heat. Nothing wrong with pausing for breath and a recharge.
Hi Jenny. Same here, I’ve been doing three runs of 30m but have had a couple of ones where I’ve just done 20m. I’m also hopeless in the sun, and have ended up miles away from home to avoid running on the sunny side of the street! I’d suggest a rest, to get the best possible chance of a full 30m on the next one.
I was recommended a cooling towel on the forum as I overheat and feel sick when I do. I bought it on amazon for £3.99. It really does work. I drape it round my neck and you just have to flip it and it is cold again. Really useful for wiping a hot face and has helped me keep cool enough to run. Hope this helps
