HELP! I completed Couch to 5k about 3 months ago, at that point I wanted to focus on consolidating my runs and reaching 5k which I achieved and was sticking to 3 runs a week for a little while. I then brought my first house and spent a lot of my free time while not at work decorating which was my excuse when I stopped running. I didn’t run for 5 whole weeks, which was the longest I have gone without running since I started C25k. Last week I ran for the first time after 5 weeks off and managed 20 minutes running, It felt so good! However since then I haven’t ran, seriously struggling to find the motivation to keep going as part of a routine especially in the mornings before work. How do I get back into it?

Would it help to go back to repeat week 5. It might be a good incentive knowing there is a break in the runs and get back into the 3xpw routine before the longer runs again. I think that would work for me lol 😂

Just set out the gear the night before..next day, then lift the shoes up and put them on... that is where the motivation hides:)

Think of why you began this..have those reasons changed..if not then you just go out there. We cannot give you the motivation.. it is there inside you !

As Oldfloss says, it is within you, you just have to find it.

For me, I realised how much better mentally I felt when I kept on track. I can't run before work (I get up at 4.45 as it is) so as soon as I get in I go straight up and change and I don't allow myself to sit down until I've run, got back, put gear in wash and on, made lunches for the next day and dinner.... then sit. Sometimes it feels tough but I feel better for it.

Equally if I get home late and there's just not enough time I don't beat myself up, I just mentally adjust and plan for the next day. Sometimes I only manage 2 runs a week but by always trying to get out rather than trying to find reasons not to I feel better overall.

You need to find what works for you and your life.

Congratulations on your new home 🏡🌼👍😁

Thank you for the messages! After reading these I ran this morning and went back to week 6, it felt great and got a good feeling about the rest of the week. I’m glad I’ve decided to start again on week 6, for some reason it helps mentally to get out the door as I know I can do those runs! ☺️🏃🏻‍♀️
