I am running again now and, slowly getting back into my own pattern... having a break here at the Coast recharging the body and refreshing the soul My daughter, Little Mama has taken some leave so we have a short rest period from our caring days, for small runner in training... our granddaughter I am looking forward to some gentle running this week
The number of folk on the forum increases daily...( the numbers are truly frightening), and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
I apologise if I miss posts or replies, as there really are a lot of us!
We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
If you have just Graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates., and the new Quest on here too...this month it is called..Spring Fever... and I hope we all catch it
One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can talk to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.
So, please do come and join the fun...slip off your running shoes and just let us know how it is going

Good morning Oldfloss, I hope you are well. I'm glad you're running again, and with your grandaughter too! That sounds lovely.
Do let me know if you need another administrator or if I could volunteer in some other way, I'd sure be up for helping!
I am on week 2 of my 10-week 5-10k programme. I am feeling a little daunted about my run today, not because it is raining, but because I have to run at maximum effort for 2 minutes twice with a 2-minute jog between them. I'll be curious to know what my max pace is at the start of the first 2 minutes, compared with what it is at the end of the last 2 minutes. I suspect there might be a large gap!
Not running with small one... we have a complete break here at our holiday home on the coast Although we do miss her and the family. and are glad to return home too recharged and refreshed A two and a half year old keeps my stamina and strength up wonderfully!
Your running seems to be going well..we learn so much about ourselves through our running don't we? I find it fascinating.. I am working on some different aspects this week ad over the next 8 weeks and it is really great fun
Our Mentor and Admin team is well covered at the moment, but thank you for your kind offer...Do, please though keep on posting your supportive replies, there is so much we all gain from the experience of others
I see, well do enjoy your break. I wish there were more sea air in Birmingham!
My running is going well thanks, though the run I'm doing today was scheduled for last Wednesday, so I'm a little late. I'm unconcerned about it though, I'm in no rush
Don't worry Oldfloss I shan't stop posting advice and support until there's no-one to benefit from it.
Hi Oldfloss. Hopefully it will be W8R2 for me tomorrow if I can leave the paint brush and decorating for long enough. Hope you’re enjoying your time by the sea!
Hello Oldfloss, I ran week 8 run 2 this morning. It felt slightly harder than the previous run but I put it down to a few drinks at a family barbecue on Saturday (plenty of water also) but it just goes to show that a lot of factors can affect a run. Still learning what works and what doesn’t. I’m looking forward to my next run which will be a good one, I can feel it! 😊🏃🏻♀️
W6R3 next for me. I know I can do it, just need a couple of days rest after last week. This is so good for me, physically and mentally. Dont know if I imagined it but last two runs I thought my senses were heightened, could smell the breakfast in the cafe (just hungry?!), honeysuckle, fresh grass. Could sense people approaching behind me even though music plugged in to my ears. Anyone else? 😜
Week 7! Just done the 1st run and found the whole thing quite hard today. Got it done but the legs needed some persuading to keep going at 20 minutes in 😂
Hi Old floss. ..sounds great where you are! I'm on week 2 run 3 which I did this morning. Felt really wrong......first time I've tried using a tred mill. So hot and uncomfortable, too easy (?????? Don't understand THAT myself) and boring. I think that the next run will be the end of weeks 1 and 2.....I've repeated them twice now, beginning on my holiday in Wales 2 weeks ago. Just feeling a bit scared of running longer now....ye gods, am I daft or what?!
Truly lovely here..off to the Beddgelert forest today for some cycling... Treadmill running is so different... some find it easier and some harder... I can run much faster on the treadmill
Just take to slow and steady when you are out there, and if you do complete the runs, do move on. As they get longer, there is a danger that you may tire out... Just take it gently and carry on...huge well done!
Shwmae OldFloss! I'm going to do W8R2 in an hour or so, having taken an extra extra rest day over the weekend, but I did a few miles walking around Portmeirion, pretty close to Beddgelert Forest I'm just waiting for software updates on the new new Garmin.. the old one decided after a week it wasn't going to vibrate any more, so the replacement came today. Fingers crossed this one will behave itself, because when it's working, this model is perfect for me. Crazy to think there's only 5 runs left!
Just finished week 6 today on my restart of running. No niggles on knee (taping it just to be sure) and no asthma problems so far - so fingers crossed for a continuation of the running this time!
For anyone struggling to fit in 3 runs in a week - I seem to be averaging 2 at the moment (one mid week and one at the weekend) and not having any problems
Hello - recharged and refreshed sounds good to me 😎😁
W6R2 tomorrow, looking forward to it, last of the intervals. Yesterday - R1 was a wet day and park was muddy, struggled, bit slushy under foot and felt my shins a tad achy. Didn’t feel out of puff just bit achy. Fine this morning so tomorrow I’m heading out.
Loving this forum, couldn’t keep motivated without it 🌸
Away at 6 am this morning for my final third run of the week. Hoping 3 x 30 minute runs a week will improve my stamina and speed . This morning my pace was 7.16 min/km.
