Good morning everyone...

Goodness, the weeks are really flying by and yes, I'm here.... ready to bring us all together, in the What is Your Week chat.

We have had some mixed weather run wise... with rain one day and glorious spells of sunshine on others. A few slightly chillier starts to the morning runs too!

I am back out there again and enjoying all the changes that are happening in the fields and on the tracks and trails where I run... it all moves on apace:)

This is a photo of one of my favourite places to run, taken earlier this year! That field now has a new showing of Winter Wheat!

Wherever we are and whatever the weather, we can, hopefully, find the opportunity to get out and run.

Time to embrace the season and enjoy!

With numbers increasing, it is great, to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on which week, of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated,and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well for Graduates.

So, come and join the fun.... Let us know how it is going :)

Last consolidation run today if it’s an easy one, the last 5 have been smooth so I feel ready to move on. Little Miss UNM has done 5k now, she’s loving her running. My neighbour is now in week 2, his wife is a couple of runs behind him, as are his kids.... but for some reason they’re not excited about the prospect of finding 2 more runners and doing equinox 24 next September!

That’s a lovely photo Oldfloss, what a great place to run.

I’ve just done W5R2 this morning out on the pavements. I’m now mentally preparing myself for the infamous W5R3 on Wednesday

I'm sure I read somewhere on this forum the advice to go as slow as you can and then a bit slower or maybe I just dreamt that I read that-anyway it's what I'm planning on doing!!

No.. you read it, and it was probably me that said it... I am infamous for the phrase... slow down and then slow down more.:) As the Original Grey Snail.. I can tell you.. snails totally ROCK! And... you will be amazed where they get to :)

Hi,

Started W4R1 for me I am taking my time and doing each week twice to build up my jogging/running capability.

I have just got my 4 stone award in Slimming world after a year, the last stone has been hard but adding Gym and C25K has really helped, I still have a long way to go but even 3 months ago didn't think I was capable of running 5 mins let alone 30. So very happy.

W4R1 also for me but on a second attempt. Stopped last time as calves too tight but this time loads better.

Well done.. massage or roll those calves really well and check out some exercises for them. Are you stretching well after each run?

It does help.. the calf muscles are a real pain ( sorry for the pun) but they do respond to TLC :)

Just come back from Wk7R2, I have had a week off between R1 and R2 due to a virus and it was TOUGH today! Was doing the 25 mins comfortably before I got ill but today felt like an uphill climb all the way. Legs just didn't want to know, but I was absolutely determined not to stop, and I didn't - even though I was more walk/jogging than running, but at least it wasn't walking! And I didn't have to repeat any of the programme, I did consider going back to the beginning of Wk6 but I thought 'what the heck, give it a go' and I made it!! Yay! Hope Wednesday's run is a little more pleasurable! :o)

Well done for getting back on track...just take it really steady and slow... Just relax and let the legs find their pace:)

Just done W2R3 with a friend having graduated last December and then stopping in April ‘18...... pleased to rejoin and enjoyed it. Difference is I know I can do it as have done so before ......😀

Wk5 run 3 completed, but going to repeat it, as Sarah Milligan advised.

The entire run was a battle between my brain telling I couldn’t manage it and then saying well, maybe you can, yes you can. Meanwhile, my legs and breathing kept plodding. It’s really odd.

Your post and picture is an great encouragement.

Well done you... why do you want to repeat it... did you complete it? Slow and steady is just fine... so if you did it ??? Maybe move on gently?

Did W4R1 yesterday, was a little apprenhensive at the thought of running for 5 mins x twice; but I did it and felt so good towards the end of the 2nd 5 minute run. Roll on run 2!

Just back from W6R1. I heeded the good advice on here and treated it with respect so as not to get too carried away from the sense of being untouchable that was engendered by Saturday's completion of W5R3. It was a challenging one today but all went well enough. It looks like I will not be able to run again until Friday because of some travel with work which has just cropped up. I bitterly resent work interfering with my running (jogging) life. Wow have I just said that? Luckily it's only 6 weeks to go until I retire from full time employment.

All sounding good... pop in some extra strength and stamina exercise, if you are able... on the days you aren't running...that will keep you going :)

Hi old floss, first proper (aside from parkrun) 5k done yesterday, took it nice and slow and tried not to race others, it was a mizzly, drizzly day but the exhilaration of crossing that finish line was unbelievable xx

Thanks for reminding me that it doesn’t matter how long it takes. I’ve just completed W7R3 and was hoping to have reached graduation day by now. A lovely sunny morning today with Molly 🐾. Now she’s used to the harness I’m trying new paths and really enjoying different routes. 🏃‍♀️☀️

Sounds great to me.. I took a leisurely 5K yesterday.. and took lots of photos too :)

Even though I've never failed a run on my first attempt, it took me 3.5 weeks to get from the end of Week 5 to the beginning of Week 8, because on four consecutive weekends I had various complicated travel things going on, which, coupled with having to start and finish work early on certain weekdays to fit things in, meant that I had little choice but to spread the runs out more. Graduating in two days' time, having taken about 10 weeks to complete the programme.

W2R1 completed at lunchtime but the seafront today was packed with half term holiday makers so has to dodge kids, bikes, scooters and dogs. Was too beautiful to be inside. Even felt good when I finished.

I just completed W8 R1. I can’t believe I ran for 28 minutes, and by the second half I was definitely increasing my pace! Had a bit of a low week mentally last week, even though I managed to complete my runs, but got amazing support and encouragement on here, so went out today with a much more positive attitude. Love this forum

Just a week of different runs..slow and steady..relaxed and gentle. Let the newly forming running legs find their own happy pace...you will be fine.😉

Hi Oldfloss, W7R2 planned for this evening. Thinking about changing my route to spice up the 25 min a bit. Especially as running almost in the dark is less fun! Hopefully I will catch a glimpse of the moon. Happy running week!

Still here, eighth repeat of week 1. I’ve gone from having to walk the whole thing to being able to jog over half of each run. Slow, but still worth doing. As Jilly Cooper says, “The only failure is not to have tried.” 😀

Go you... you will certainly get there. Different I know ..but the number of times over three years I have had to re-start running again because of setbacks.....( broken ribs... infected horsefly bites etc etc..) have given me patience and determination... the more we do.. the stronger we get !!

I’m in week 7, should have been doing R2 this morning but feeling under the weather with a cold. Fingers crossed for tomorrow! I can definitely feel the longer runs the day after, so an extra rest day or two is welcomed by my legs!
