What is Your Week. March...Week 4

Well here we are...almost into April...Spring has sprung and we are getting a tad warmer and with some sunshine too.

The days are drawing out and the opportunity to run in daylight, is a welcome one for many of us...

My week is kicking off with my HM and I am excited ! I shall be pleased to run in my normal running pattern after tomorrow, after the weeks of training...... back to my three times a week.Short, long... longer:)

The numbers of folk on the forum increase daily.. and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates., and the new Quest on here too...launched last week !

One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can talk to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.

So, please do come and join the fun.... Let us know how it is going :)

Week 5 run 1 - back on the programme! After a winter of coughs and colds and lots of Grandma duties. I haven’t been idle but neither was I running. Hoping that Spring means I can get to week 9 without falling off the track again! 🤣

Dear OF! I am trying! I have a sore leg and sunlight is bothering my eyes. I tried sunglasses per my doctor, but they're not good enough so I went out walking a mile this morning before the sun came up.... I am resolving to go to bed early so I can get up before the sun and get some exercise in, hopefully gearing up to running again as summer appears....

Well I'm on Week 1 still (for the 3rd year running haha. I did week 1 Run 1 about two 2½ weeks ago and then if you recall I had started radiotherapy I ended up not trying any more as I was getting pretty tired anyway. I just hope to have a little go as and when. No pressure. After all I remind myself that I did actually graduate in 2017. So last night I ventured out for W1R2. I think my aim is just really to build up to that 30 minutes and then try and consolidate which I didn't move on to after graduation. I do go to parkrunand jog for about a minute before the anxiety kicks in. I then jog a little walk a lot then jog again and so on. Additionally my knees have coped with the 2 runs so far. So we'll build up slowly and I'll stay on a week if need to or improvise. Just want to build my key strength up and trust in the programme and use it more as a guide. Another reason for doing it is to try and improve my confidence so it has been good to see that my pace for the whole thing has improved a little.

So onwards and upwards

Just graduated again, this morning at Park Run. Ran the whole thing. Had a couple of chats along the way. Went for breakfast after.

Wouldn’t want to do it every weekend, but I did enjoy it 😊

Well done to everyone who has done half marathons and park runs this weekend. One day that will be me!

I'll be doing w6 r3 tomorrow. Having had two interval runs, I am a bit worried for tomorrow. I have now embraced the Japanese slow jogging technique which seems to have done wonders for my upper back pain! I used to have to take a painkiller or suffer throughout the day on run days before I started this technique. The last 4 runs have been very enjoyable, thanks to slowing down and improving my posture.

On to the next run! 🏃👟

This is super news... take it gently as on you go!

Don’t know if the internet is ready for a pic of me in the lycra, perhaps a pic of them on their own!. I agree the Japanese slow jogging is great, but I must confess my brisk walk is faster than my jog.

Really enjoy reading how others are doing on their journey.

A pic of them will be fine 🙃 Slow is great and you will be amazed where it takes you..I have just posted a pikkie of my gear for my first HM tomorrow..and I never dreamt in 2015 that I would ever be at this point! All slow and steady runs...😉

I am doing the scary Week 5. Have done first run twice (inside, then outside) and plan to do run 2 tomorrow outside. Might do run 3 on the treadmill first; 20 mins running? Ooh, a biggie mentally and physically!!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to MeddieB

Hope it went well?

MeddieB profile image
MeddieBGraduate in reply to Oldfloss

It did! Very slow jog but I managed it. Confusingly my smartie pants watch thought my little steps were longer and said I'd done 5K+! 20 mins (on the treadmill) on Thursday to look forward to.

Thank you!

I did my 1st run of Week 4 today and so far so good. I found the 5 minutes quite good and actually felt like it gave me a chance to get into a rhythm and think about how I was moving and what I was doing!

On Monday I am joining in a beginners C25K group with a local running club that I plan to ultimately join. Rather than start all over again I am thinking of interspersing my C25K week runs with the club run too so it will take me a bit longer to get to the end of the C25K course but I am looking forward to meeting other runners! I guess this will still be OK.

All sounding good...just take it all at your own pace...

5k reached, 5.25k is now my furthest distance.

39 mins running time so far, on course to reach 40 mins by April

2x weekrun target ticked

25 mile target for Race at your pace reached with one run to go........

But the best and favourite run was one I did this week when I just ran with no real plan, just jogging along in the sun with my two boys, first time I let myself not run with a goal to reach, 31 mins of pure pleasure, so perhaps that’s the way to go. One run a week with a target in mind and one run that’s just for the pleasure of running

Run for pure joy..because you can!

Continue to run 3 times a week because I want to and because I can. When I think back to week1 -week3 I honestly never thought I would run for 30-40 minutes non stop . The plan really is excellent . The doctors should prescribe it on a prescription . 😂😂

Also signed into an app on my phone the target 200,000 steps in March and I'm just about there . I like things to aim for keeps me going 😚
