Bruise pictures (from the recent past) and a hard run!

11 or so days ago I took a tumble and landed on my hands and knees on a dirt track. I mentioned it at the time, got up within a few seconds and carried on! The day after I developed a bruise on the inside of my right knee (pictured on left)... and NOW, 10 days later the bruise has now come out on the other side of my knee/leg.

The funny thing is that I have been running fine even with these injuries! But anyone would think I'd been beaten up!

Anyhow, bruise pictures aside... had a very hard run today; doing my there and back route but with the (slightly) up hill part first;

So - we've heard about the 'toxic 10' .... but for me it was the frigging impossible 5, then the toxic 10, the mean 15 and the terrible 20... and then it was the lovely last 10 mins... (yes the last 15 mins (return) should be slightly downhill) ... but it was HARD... may be just a Bad Run today, 'cos it should be getting easier by now shouldn't it; nearly 1 month after graduation with approx 3 runs/week?

Hey ho.... roll on thursday...

Wow! That’s some bruising but it’s beaten by that run. Frigging impossible beaten in 5 minutes, toxic 10 then dispatched, mean 15 and terrible 20 then fell... those other 10 didn’t want to mess with you and get their butts kicked too, no doubt! Great job.

There’s no bad run... it served its purpose, made you stronger and better and is now part of your running history. It was tough... you were tougher... it pushed you mentally and physically, you pushed it back twice as hard. That run is full of victories, and the next one will be smoother.

Ooh, great bruising! I bruise like a peach and had the third degree off the doctor a few days ago...in french! It didnt seem to satisfy her my reply that I have 3 crazy spaniels.

Have you rubbed arnica on your bruising? Amazing stuff...hope they dont hurt.

You are at the exact same stage as me with your running...some days are just tougher than others....dont forget we all lead busy lives, which takes a pièce of us.

You still did it and tbey, all make us stronger. I dread Wednesday runs as the app we are following throws in a lot of speed work which at the moment feels a step too hard.

Good luck with the running and bruising.

I still find it really hard most days.

Have you tried reading a running book called 80/20? It’s about how we need to slow right down so most of our runs are not hard. Slower slower slower. It’s the only way to improve. I’m reading it at the moment and finding it interesting. I’m going to try the recommended ‘Week of Slow’ this week to see how it goes. I’m doing this because I found my Toxic 20 was not easing. Good luck. We’ll get there!! 👍🏻🏃🏻‍♀️

Ouch! They look bad, but we'll done you for carrying on 😊 x

Ouch...and you just described my run this morning...horrible, but we did it !

I couldn't find my rhythm, breathing felt off, legs felt heavier than normal, just urgh...I counted down the minutes, there was no distracting myself today lol

Those bruises look vicious. Well done you for getting back up and completing, some wouldn't.

Keep up the fabulous work, next time will be better and look how far you've come.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger 😘
