Manchester 10k next year?

Good morning all,

From my sofa, I’m watching the Manchester 10k and wondering could it be me next year?

I’ve watched so many friends run the course but never thought it would be a possibility for me.

As I near the end of the program (W8r2 tomorrow), maybe it’s not so much of an impossibility!?

I thank this program for making me believe in my self again.

All I need now is to find some running companions.

Yes Emlist29, it could be YOU next year running the Great Manchester 10K run, even the HM if you want to, certainly plenty of time for the 10K.

I am also watching it from the couch, but I don't have a guilty conscious, I went a short run earlier this morning after my exercises at home.

A little apology, I told people that it was on BBC ONE, its on BBC TWO.

Absolutely it could be you! I have a 10k event in mid-June and completed C25k at New Year. I have been slow in progressing up to 10k but ran that distance yesterday for the first time. You have loads of time to consolidate and then build up slowly and I’m certain you could achieve 10k sooner than a year hence. Keep an eye out for the entries opening for next year and go for it! Once you have a place you have a definite target! It worked for me x

Thank you.

I thought I was being cocky thinking about the HM but...

All the best with your training and the run.

You can totally do that! Plenty of time to build up to 10k from a solid foundation. I’m heading for 10k myself, having completed the program and consolidation runs I want a goal to aim for and thinking 10k might be it..

There is the Bridge to 10k on here but I haven’t tried that, not sure how I’m going to do it yet!

I hope you find some running companions to run with, but sure you can do it, you probably didn't think you could run 5K when you started either!

I still can’t understand how this program works. It must be witchcraft.

The thing to ask yourself is why can’t that be you next year? Yeah, I can’t think of a reason either. Keep believing and keep finding out just how awesome you are.

I’m not far from Manchester (Glossop) so if you’re up for a parkrun together at some point, PM me and we can work it out.

You’re doing great... enjoy that run 2... then it’s one more until your victory lap.

Thank you. I’ve come up with so many reasons why I can’t but hopefully I’ll come to a place where I can apply.

I’m working up to a Parkrun so as I progress I might well take you up on your offer. I’m in Macclesfield. x

3 weeks out of 6 I’m in Bramhall at 7:30 on a Saturday morning... Macc is certainly doable for me.

I know this is an old post, but we've only just connected on the forum.

Absolutely it could be you next year - 5k to 10k is MUCH easier than 0K TO 5K! I'm definitely doing it next year too.

If you'd like to meet up with some of the folk on here from the NW, why not come along to one of my little parkrun meets?

Details here: iangoughmusic-my.sharepoint...

We don't run together as everyone goes at a different pace but we usually have a nice coffee and a bacon butty afterwards. You'd be most welcome. :)
