Finished w4 r3 on Thursday, since then have had left knee pain. I managed aqua aerobics Friday morning . And today have managed a walk, there is no way I'm going to manage a run. Knee says NO....

Gutted is an understatement, really missing the runs. I'm going to rest leg until Monday, and hope that I can start again. Any advise please,

Follow the advice in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... on minimising impact, stretching after every run, knee strengthening exercises and dealing with injury.

Resting up is a good idea.

Read IannodaTruffe's post with the link to the guide, it's really helpful.

Now that you have reached week 4 it could be that your knees are reacting to the longer run durations and it could be time for gait analysis and investing in proper running shoes. Apologies if you have done this already. If not, it is well worth taking the time to go and get checked. They will assess your gait as you run on a treadmill to determine how you place your foot and whether you under/over pronate and need a supportive shoe. Over pronation can lead to associated knee pain, so t's worth the investment to keep you running pain-free. Good luck!

Hi. Delly-dot.have read the link which was really helpful. Yes just got new running shoes a week ago, I wandered if it may be running differently on each foot. Very new to this. So may go and get it checked out. Thanks for your advise. Hopefully back to it soon as missing my runs. Never thought I would say that.😀

When I got my new trainers my legs felt different as I ran, especially round the knees. It wasn’t too painful but I was definitely aware of it and it went away after a week. It could be that your muscles and knees are adjusting and just settling into a slightly different foot placement, but do get it checked if it gets worse and doesn’t go away. Good luck!
