What is Your Week? September...Week 2

Good morning everyone...

This month, it is my turn to bring us all together, in the What is Your Week chat.

Numbers on all the forums, but especially this one, are still increasing on a daily basis!

It is fantastic to see, but hard to keep up with. We at Admin have to thank you all for the response to the way we are changing a few things, because of these increases:)

This photograph was taken in the Autumn last year, on one of my running and my rambles. The Year turns, the weather changes... bringing new delights and new challenges, but we are able, hopefully, to still find the time and the opportunity to complete our runs.

With numbers increasing, it is great have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on, which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well for graduates.

So, come and join the fun.... Let us know how it is going :)

Week 6 starts today! Might go as soon as little miss UNM is in school rather than my usual evening run. Feeling good, but I’ve been up since 4 and think energy may be lacking this evening.

Hope it went well😊

Tomorrow 🤞I will complete week eight so week nine starts on Thursday 😳 as with the start of every new week I am approaching with trepidation but more so as its the last one. Unless I repeat week 8 to be sure I'm ready and get my pace/distance up 🤔

Oldfloss profile image

Slow and steady..cruise your way to that podium 😊

Week 8 run 2 tomorrow - never thought I would get this far. I am quite enjoying it much to my own surprise. Looking forward to completing then spending some time running at 30 mins to consolidate my stamina and hopefully get a tad faster 🤔🏃🏻‍♀️May even have a go at park run - just worried I would be last home 🤣

W4R1 tomorrow having just repeated W1-W3 due to injury...hoping to regain my enthusiasm now that I am moving forward

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to GlassA

Slow and steady does it... slow gets us where we want to be:)

Not the best of starts for W7R1 (22 mins out of 25 completed) but I'm not going to bother repeating it as W7 is all the same. 😫

Slow right down as you move on.. and up the rest day stamina exercises too:)

in reply to Oldfloss

Yes, in six weeks of C25K, I've only done about three of the NHS strength and flexibility exercises. Whoops. Plan to pick them up again tomorrow. I'm definitely lacking in stamina.

"Stress" is "Me." I continue to hold on by a thread. On a positive note, it's cooler--Yay!!! Also on a positive note, the one time I ran this week, I upped it to .6 miles. Doesn't sound like much, but it was about all I could do in my unraveling life.

Oldfloss profile image

Oh gosh.. what can I do ! You got out.. you did!!! xx

LiisaM profile image

My goal is to repeat that at least once this coming week. It's not much, but I am "hanging" in there, hopefully. I need to keep running....

1st run of Week 8 this morning for me. Very sore legs this afternoon, but I was impressed by my stamina today! Hell, I'm impressed with all of my efforts in C25K. Still pinching myself that I am actually doing it. On to Wednesday and R2, can't wait!

Huge well done. stretch and stretch some more..then steady and really slowly!

Ooh hi there Oldfloss.

I haven't ran since a week last Sunday, plus getting out during the week is just a nightmare, as there is no time in the window that is good for me.

I write this whilst visiting my mum straight from work then it's home yo diet the dogs, walk them and then tea. By the time that happens it's nearly 9pm 😫 but I'm devising a plan to break away from a few chores and jump into my running legs and set off on my run. Hopefully Wednesday, so watch this space lovely runners 😏.

I need to try leg strengthening exercises too and can't find the link either you gave old floss or someone else.

Happy running lovely running family, hope everyone achieves what they want xx 👍😍

Could you run with the dogs ? I know that depends on a whole lot of factors !

quirkybee profile image
quirkybeeGraduate in reply to ButtercupKid

Hi ButtercupKid I could run with them, they're 9 months and 10 months, yorkie and black lab. Lab has had a bit of a limp on his right back leg, so I'm not too inclined to take him yet, not that I'd be running fast haha, I'm as slow as a slow snail 🤣🐌

I ran through the park last Saturday with them, they were whacked out when we arrived home, lol.

Thanks for your suggestion xx

You have so much going on, and yet here you are.. doing it when you can and always with that smile :)x

I shall be watching and hoping!

Thanks Old Floss. I'll take a look now. Gosh, if I had more strength in my legs, I'd make sure I'd get out there more often. The lack of strength puts me off see, but I will strengthen these pins, lol 🤣🤣 xxx

Week 6 run 1

Wow can’t believe I’m on week 6!!!!.

Feeling my fitness continues to improve and don’t feel as stressed. I’m definitely getting hooked on running and go out running even if it’s rainning.

It’s all good 🤗

Week 2 next run is no.3

Not very organised about my runs. But when I can I’m on it! Pup loves it barks if I’m dying 😵 ( in my head he is telling me to keep moving forward- Walt Disney said the same 🤪)

Yes I can ramble on and on 😂😂

Oldfloss profile image

Love the view. I’m enjoying running so much post graduation. I’m not putting any pressure on myself with any grand plan but getting out in the fresh air three times a week is really doing me good. Found the advice to keep the length of stride shorter very helpful.

Starting Week 6 tomorrow! Cannot BELIEVE I did the 20 minute slog the other day, especially as I had ended up having a week off with a busy schedule, I intended to run as far as I could and then just stop if I was struggling but found I just kept going! So proud of my little body for all of its hard work!

I hope everyone is feeling good! X

I'm on to week 5 run 3 tomorrow! Little bit nervous as this feels like it will be the first big test on this C25K jouney. The rest has been (surprisingly) plain sailing but we'll see how I do tomorrow! Just going to focus on keeping a steady pace and controlled breathing. Even if it's too tough I will keep trying until I can complete it!

Oldfloss profile image

Slow, steady and relax..it really is, just another run that you are totally ready for!

Started week 4 yesterday & I loved it. For the first time I didn't feel like I was going to run out of breath. Took it slow & steady. Can't believe I ran 16 minutes

Slow and steady.. maybe up some of your rest day core strength and stamina exercises as the runs get longer now, and cruise your way to graduation :)

Well done!

Week 8 begins tomorrow and in total honesty I'm not looking forward to it at all I've struggled to keep motivated through week 7, and I'm not sure I've got the extra 3 minutes in me. I posted about it and I had a lot of positive comments from people which is what you need when your loosing all hope 😀

Oldfloss profile image

Keeping it slow and steady, and relaxing into the runs should keep you on track...x

Just started week 6 - did the first run of the week last night. It was harder than the third run of week 5. This is my second attempt at the NHS C25K and I got to week 9 last time, (but didn't graduate) so I know I can do this. But I didn't enjoy the run last night as much as W5R3. It feels like such a backward step to go back to intervals after the euphoria of a 20 minute run. Good luck to all those doing park runs/colour runs etc this weekend.

Slow and steady and take each run as it comes.... go gently!
