So I can run slowly for 30 minutes. Feeling quietly smug.
But do hope I can get to the 5KM, currently 1.2KM off that, which I am not so smug about. Feel like a tortoise when I run and my 9 year old is the hare that literally runs around me, albeit he is very encouraging and kind. As the saying goes slow and steady wins the race. He runs the junior park run where I volunteer....hoping to run with him and keep up with him one day ( he is quite fast). I would also like to do the 5Km park run though his various other sporting commitments block that usually or maybe I am using that as an excuse because I daren't run in public as scared of being so slow.
Anyway, than you everyone, I lurk about digesting helpful information. Good luck to everyone on the route to completing. Stick in there. I can honestly say I do not love running but do love the new felt fitness and getting outside more.

Don't worry about time and distance, you can run and that's the main thing. The health benefits far outweigh the the need for distance and speed. You should pat yourself on the back for a job well done
I am so slow, only managing about 3.6k in 30 minutes atm but I’m not going to worry about it for a bit. I think losing some weight will help so going to get comfy doing 30 minutes and try and shift a few more pounds as well and see how I go.
Well done you! I'm a slow runner too and I know I won't be anywhere near 5km in 30 minutes when I start Week 9 next week but I figure I can get there in the end. I've noticed that my pace has gradually increased a bit the last couple of runs without my trying too hard. And do go for that Parkrun, it'll feel great. Who cares if you're the slowest? (You won't be though...)
Trust me you’re not slow! I graduated a few weeks ago n have just started extending my runs after consolidation. In 30 minutes my usual distance just running is around 1.35-1.4 miles, not even halfway to 5k 😂😂. The gazelle runners I pass on my runs are always positive and encouraging so once I have some transport sorted I’ll be going to my local Parkrun n if I’m the slowest one there, so what?! The tail runner will still be behind me 😉😂🏃♀️
I’m sure you won’t be the slowest but honestly even if you are, I’m sure no one will give 2 hoots. Best of luck!
