I’m a runner?

What has happened to me? Micheal Johnson has just told me I’m a runner! Me a runner? Why did I not start this app sooner.

Tonight I completed w6r3 and a continuous 25minute run along the canal.

I couldn’t believe how comfortable I felt. I just sort of relaxed into it and was in shock when Micheal told me I had 5 mins left.

I finished my run with a celebratory 10 mins on a park swing. It’s a great way to cool off.

Today I listen to a pod cast instead of music which seemed to help. Has anyone got any recommendations for pod casts?

Well done you! Officially a runner 🏃‍♀️😊👏🏼

I had the same run yesterday, which wasn’t an easy start until I relaxed into it, just like you, and it was my best run so far. It has boosted my confidence for the start of week 7. Happy running!

And well done you, fellow runner!

Here’s to week 7!

Awesome! Michael knows what he's talking about... You're not a cactus, you're a runner. 😃🏃‍♀️

🌵😂. As long as I remember to drink enough. However it felt like a needed the loo all day today.

I missed Micheal as he only spoke to me every 5 mins (the only downside to this program).

Thank you fellow runner!!!

Thank you.

Yes it is, other than a few hissing geese.

Of course you're a runner! 👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣👣

Being able to run for 25 minutes straight puts you in a very small proportion of western adult humans. Okay, compared with your average Kenyan schoolkid, it isn't much, but compared to most British adults it's a great achievement.

Humans are evolved to run, you've just started doing what you are designed for.

And well done, 'cos from where you started, it ain't easy.

❤👏❤👏❤👏❤👏

Thank you.

Your words have made me feel so proud.

However slow my pace I’m still running faster than if I had stayed on the sofa.

That's my policy, too. Well done.

Great job. I’m not sure at what stage I’d define “runner” but I don’t have 4 Olympic and 8 world championship gold medals... if MJ says it’s so then it is! You got this now, enjoy closing it out.

I like a good informative and funny podcast, so I love “No Such Thing as a Fish” but I also like to listen to “Running Commentary” as it’s two guys running while chatting... it reminds me to check my conversational pace.

Great stuff. Yes you are, Michael told me the same thing about a year or so ago, so it must be true! I recall the first time I did the continuous run for 20 mins.

Who me? Oh yes!!!

Well done fellow runner!

"However slow my pace I’m still running faster than if I had stayed on the sofa. " - I think we should get that put onto t-shirts. Love it. Then all the folk who feel very self-conscious starting out and feel like people are staring at them and wondering why they're puffing and panting so much when they're moving really slowly, can wear it with pride.

One of the funniest podcasts I’ve listened too for a while is sha**ed, married and annoyed with Rosie and Chris Ramsey. Well done on the 25 mins. I’ve almost completed the 2nd week but today is the first day I haven’t worried about people seeing me.

Thanks for the podcast tip. I almost tried the show for my run yesterday, next time I will.

Get out there with pride, I’m sure no one even notices us really.

Happy running.

Hi Em,

I had that magic moment last week and that was on my second attempt, there were a few tears!

Well done you, that's such a brilliant achievement and you should be chuffed (sounds like you are ) :)

I only use C5K podcasts at the moment, but I'm sure the lovely people on here will have some suggestions for you

Looks like such a nice place to run and a lovely warm down. I've done pretty much all of it in the gym up until now, so might venture out now - not sure the world is ready for me in lycra -eek!

You can do it!!

Emlist29 profile image
Emlist29Graduate in reply toFen_runner

Thank you and well done to you too!

There were tears, dancing and screams (which must have made me look crazy)

If you don’t cause any car crashes in lycra, you’ll be fine.

Happy running.

I was in the gym, so also very embarrassing, but who cares! Its such a watershed moment, we should be very proud of ourselves...onwards and upwards

...will keep you posted on the car crashes :)

happy running to you too

Well done! I find podcasts help more than music. I like Desert Island Discs- you can listen to extended ones when your running for longer. Also In Our Time. I find they help me zone out of focusing on how much longer I have to run.

I recommend “no such thing as a fish”. It’s left over stuff that the QI researchers find out. Funny, silly but sometimes informative!
