I got out the door

Thank you all for your lovely gentle shoves.

I did get out the door this morning.

Couldn't quite run for 60 seconds but I kept going. Got home in a miserable mood cuz I'm so hard on myself. Aching like hell but I'm going to go out again on Tuesday

Keep going, you can do this - in my first week I couldn't run for 60 seconds then realised I was pushing myself to go far too fast. Somebody on this forum told me to 'embrace the snail pace' and slow right down and that changed everything. I've now just completed week 5 (still going nice and slow) and I promise that if I can do it so can you. This programme is about building your stamina to be able to run for a long time not running super fast. Take it slow and you'll be fine 😊

You have done the hard part starting...just keep going, nice and steady and try to enjoy it and not over think or worry...you will amaze yourself how it just happens...be positive, you can do it.

Very well done.

Don't be hard on yourself.........slow down.

Run/jog at an easy conversational pace, as described in the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and it becomes achievable and enjoyable and counterintuitively, it builds your stamina.

Slow and steady wins the day.

Just repeat any workout that you do not fully complete, and then move on.

Well done you! I’ve just completed week 1 and it was hard but I’m proud of myself for battling through it. Aching too and kind of dreading the next one but going to give it my best. Go us!

Your brisk walk can be faster than your run! That was my first lesson. This is really about learning to run for 30 minutes so don’t worry about speed or distance, just duration and learn to run slowly, so as the durations increase you can adjust your pace down to help you complete.

If you like slow jogging there’s a short film on youtube on the Japanese slow jogging technique - I run this way all the time & absolutely love it! Well done for getting out there - and learn to praise yourself for the achievements you’ve made. It doesn’t help to be so hard on yourself! x

Don't be miserable! Making a start is the hardest part and you've done it! It will get better. In a few weeks time you will be amazed by what you are able to do! 😊

Well done, I wasn’t going to go out either but I read your post and I pushed myself .

Go do it, you know you want to! Did you notice how each 60 seconds got easier? As soon as you get to week 2 and have a previous week to look back on and see your progress you can stop being hard on yourself. Actually you got off the couch and out the door so surely you can stop being hard on yourself now? I can see progress already 👍😀 Well done!

Slow running video link for you. youtu.be/9L2b2khySLE

Also don't forget to stretch out your tight muscles. I found squaring down stretched the ones that tightened up on me that first week.

Thank you baddie.

I checked this out earlier and will be embracing the slowly slowly approach!

Keep going and don't give up. If i can do it then anyone can. Make sure you run slowly so that you dont exhaust yourself and make sure you drink plenty of water on both running and non-running days. You'll be just fine :-)
