It seems like ages since I last ran - actually about two weeks - or did any other exercise. I've had a nasty chest infection, and what with that and a trip to Prague I haven't managed to get my PE kit on for anything. I've even neglected Rignold 's lenten challenge as I've had flu like aching back and limbs and not really been able to get out of bed/off the sofa for any amount of time. My asthma was also playing up.
But a course of antibiotics and a new inhaler (my last one died about 2 years ago), and lots of TLC means that I'm just about feeling back to my old self.
So I think I'm going to need a bit of encouragement to get my kit on tomorrow and get out of the door for a run in the morning. Then hopefully I'll get back to the gym on Tuesday and maybe attempt a return to my kettlebell class on Wednesday or Thursday.
I'm hoping one or two of you will give me a much needed kick up the backside to get me back on track.
Thanks.

Whenever I have felt like this in the past , I have always started over with some short run/walks, nothing too serious. A minute each of running and walking - for as long as I felt like it. It doesn't take long to get back into the groove
Thanks Bazza, I was going to start with a shorter run - maybe just 5km and see how it goes. I hadn't thought of doing walk/run intervals but might give it a go.
A shorter run, 5km lol - rolls eyes. I've just graduated and am just over 1k short of that. I guess it's all relative. Get out there, you're clearly doing great!
I'd had a 2 week lay off too. First snow stopped play then I stopped playing! Did a 5k yesterday in sunshine with a short stop to take a photo when I reached the river before the uphill back home. Now glad I got out there Run with daughter planned for Tuesday, harder to decline. Have a good run today Razouski x
Seriously... you have had a rough time and flu, ( even just symptoms) is not to be sneezed at.. ( couldn't resist that)..
Just do an Irishprincess jogette.. test the legs and see how you feel Walk a bit first and then just let it happen..no set distance in mind... head out, feel the air and enjoy
It was tough going, and my lungs have definitely suffered as I found the breathing quite hard for the first time in absolutely ages. But thanks for the encouragement.
It has slowed me down as my lungs are still struggling after a chest infection and asthma, so I stuck at just over 5km and will hopefully build my distance back up again over the next couple of weeks. Now I need to get back to the gym tomorrow.
WELL done! We knew you could do it. I didn't say my runs were exactly easy...one was a gentle jog with a recent C25k graduate but the other was with zombies chasing. I evaded one horde but couldn't get enough oxygen in my lungs to evade the second. My note to self is to set a slower base pace to accelerate from!
