Weight loss

I have a lot of weight to lose, 6 stone ideally. I have just finished week 2 and haven't lost anything yet. I have been eating healthily, calorie controlled, so why haven't I shed any pounds yet? I know that muscle weighs more than fat so didn't expect quick weight loss initially, but expected something! Any thoughts please?

You need patience, especially when you take on board that C25K is not a weight loss programme.

This may help you understand anitabean.co.uk/https-anita...

Getting fit is not just losing weight. Stick with the plan and you may do as others have and have staggering weight loss.........but that will not be purely down to running.

Have you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

There is a HealthUnlocked weight loss forum.

You may not see much weight loss just now, once you are running for longer maybe weeks down the line. My weight loss has slowed down quite a bit but my body shape has totally changed. I use the Samsung health app and eat no more than 1500 calories per day. Just have patience it will happen . 😊😊

I’m just about to finish the plan and haven’t lost any weight! But my shape has changed and I look slimmer and this was noticeable about week 7/8 , I think once you start longer runs you will notice a difference, measure yourself and throw away the scales.... just keep 🏃‍♀️🏃🏻‍♂️

I agree. Don’t use the scales. Go by what your body looks and feels like. Also I go by how my clothes feel. If they feel looser then you will know progress has been made. I HATE scales 😅

I have been running now since C25K for 2 years. I had just over 2 stone to lose. I lost some, gained some, ran but really was not losing weight.

In November I had a good hard talk with myself. I thought I was eating healthy, and in comparison to many people I was, but I needed to change something.

I gave up eating bread, and cut down on my portions. No more biscuits or cake. Loads of fruit and vegetables. I wrote down in a little book what I was eating. I have lost 2 stone since November.

So my advice is to write down everything that goes into your mouth. I mean everything. Then you will stop picking and will be more conscious.

I was fooling myself before when I thought that my sandwiches I was having for lunch were healthy.

Enjoy the running. It took a while but it has worked for me. You need to be patient. Good weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs per week.

On the days you’ve done C25K (6 in total) you’ve burned 150 calories. That is not sufficient for noticeable weight loss. Come Week 9 and running for 30 minutes you’ll burn 400 calories per run. That will make a difference. But running C25K is not a weight loss program.

I’m doing C25K in addition to intermittent fasting and noticed quite quick results but IF may not be for you, it’s not for everyone. I was never much of a breakfast eater anyway so I don’t feel as though I am starving myself if I don’t eat it. I basically don’t eat late at night and I count 14-16 hours later to know when to start eating again which is usually around 10.30am. You’re asleep for half of it so that helps 😂 Anyway like I’ve said it works for some people but not all and everyone has their own opinion on it. You don’t have to do it everyday anyway.

Hi Percy! Think you need to rethink this a bit - C25K is a running programme not a weight loss one, so it’s quite possible you won’t lose anything at all. But you will get fitter and your shape will change- and the euphoria you’ll feel might then give you the oomph you need to get to grips with weight loss bit. Good luck with it all!
