Weight loss

So just started this programme and I’m hoping to lose a few pounds to make the dreaded bikini experience in 7 weeks more bearable (as well as get fit!)

I’m 9st 2 but tend to carry weight around the middle which shows as I’m only ‘5,3’. I know diet will play a big part, so I’ll also be cutting out any sugary treats in the week. Any positive weight loss stories welcome!! 🤞🏽

I wouldn’t say I’ve noticed too much actual weight loss , but I’ve noticed quite a bit of change in my actual shape and my overall fitness.

I think I have lost a little around the middle, I can fit into smaller jeans, albeit still a little uncomfortable. I think my thighs may have gotten a little smaller, and my calves are definitely more solid than they used to be. My boyfriends also noticed my bum a lot more, dunno whether that’s because it’s changed or because of the leggings! Although I used to wear leggings a lot anyways, and I do feel like it’s changed shape a little 😂

I’m generally feeling better about myself and my recovery has improved loads.

As you say, diet will play a massive part, just don’t think you can eat a little more because you’ve exercised :(

I’ll admit I haven’t changed my diet loads, I have a little. I’m going away for the weekend this week, so when I get back I’m gonna try and focus on the diet a little more.

Good luck with everything and enjoy the journey. Just take it slow and steady and you’ll be fine :) x

Thanks! The pounds would be nice but shape even more. Would be nice to loose a bit off the middle, not good to carry weight around there. Thanks for sharing x

No worries, hope it helps!

Honestly now I’m wishing I’d taken a few measurements, and comparing that. I’ve taken a few pictures, but now I’m thinking measurement comparing might’ve been nice!

Keep posting on here though, it’s so supportive x

Might be an idea! 🙂Everyone has been lovely so far and having others doing this program and sharing stories will really help.

Never really joined an exercise or dieting group so it has been nice having the support so far! I’ve only told a couple of people that I’m doing this just in case it doesn’t pan out 😂 so nice to have the online encouragement! X

Hi there. I'm following slimming world. I'm a target member. With slimming world you choose what you want to lose. The program is great because you actually don't have to give up anything. I still enjoy wine ,gin and chocolate.

Well worth looking it up or buying a magazine and taking a read xx

I started c25k in February. I had been doing slimming world as well. When I started running I was 18.5st. I’ve kept at the running as I nearly jacked it in after week 1 as I was disappointed that I had gained half a pound. After some kind words from the other members here I carried on running. To cut a long story short I’m now 14st 10 (5ft10). I will admit from wk5 I started going to the gym. So in my opinion running helps lose weight. Only thing I would suggest is that you measure your self instead of weighing.

Fab!! Go you!! You should be very proud xx

Hi there, I find one thing that is so helpful for me is that when I run, I want to eat less in general. My stomach doesn’t want it. Maybe the water I drink is what i needed before, and not food?

Anyway, that really helps. I found my body definitely changed quite a lot and I wasn’t doing weights.

I’m same height as you but I don’t know my weight. I don’t own scales but I’m sure I was heavier than you by quite some way. I don’t really know what’s what because my weight is always LOADS higher than I look. I think I was about 70kg actually last time at the gym. But in wear a size 12 comfortably not tight or a medium.

I tend to crave healthy food more than junk. Running changes my whole mindset.

Did my first run today and I even doing that made me motivated to eat better and not undo my hard work. I’m vegetarian and generally eat well. Though as a teacher, there is temptation at work with treats everywhere. It’s my first year teaching and I’ve found the stress and tiredness of the job has made me reach for one too many chocolates! Definitely looking to reduce this and get more active. Hopefully I’ll see a difference! X

Hi Dee. I think it’s healthy eating where you will see the weight loss. Keeping an eye on calories burnt isn’t over eaten into! You won’t notice a difference in shape/weight loss until you get more of the longer runs in. A good idea is to do some weight workouts on your rest days. Weights will help you lose weight as they have huge calorie burns plus fantastic for your core.

But you will get fitter and stronger! 😊

Like some of the other comments have suggested, think you need to combine this with healthy eating to see weight loss

I haven’t been watching what I’m eating and haven’t lost weight BUT my bum, yum, thighs are definitely more toned so I feel more confident even though I haven’t lost weight x

Started end of March. Only lost 3kg but my shape has changed a lot - obviously much better leg tone but also narrowing of the waist and (weirdly) the wrists. Good luck.

Haha wrist weight loss! A new one in me! Well done 👍🏽

I've put on several pounds since starting, although I am following the same regimen that had me losing 5 lbs in the two weeks before I started (1200 calories per day, at least 25% of that to be protein). I try to convince myself it is all due to new muscle, but must confess I am very disheartened.

Oh no! Pounds aside, do you feel healthier and feel like you look better? X

in reply to Dee_N

I suppose I am healthier because I am getting exercise, but I am even more fat, grotesque and ugly and none of my clothes fit so I feel unhappy most of the time as a result.

I embarked on the programme about 7 weeks before my holiday, combined C25K with a diet and lost about 11 lbs before going on holiday, (from 13st 6 to 12st 9) not sure how much was due to diet and how much to exercise but felt a whole lot better and probably more inches lost than the weight alone would suggest, hope your plan works for you, taking measurements at the start is a great idea

Thank you for sharing! What a fantastic achievement!!

I’ve taken a waist and thigh measurement so I’ll see what happens! Don’t think I’ve lost anything after week 1 but feeling better about myself anyway ☺️

And that is the main thing, I have a Fitbit so set a plan up on that, depending on how aggressive I want to be I work on a daily calorie deficit of between 500 and 1,000(supposed to equate to a reduction of 1lb per 500 daily deficit, my job is office based so tend to have low calorie burn during the week, compensated for by exercise and then a lot of gardening etc at the weekend that helps

Dee_N profile image

That sounds like a sensible plan. I’ve only implemented small changes so far, mainly in terms of what I eat in my lunch. Going for omelettes and salads as opposed to carb heavy meals. Also cutting out sugary treats in the day and opting for fruit or low fat yogurt instead.

I’ve still been allowing myself a sweet treat after dinner but will now see if I can reduce that to just weekends. Slowly does it. I don’t really like diets so I’m trying to just eat sensibly instead.

Chocolate/sweet things is usually my downfall so I’m trying to reduce this as much as possible rather than calorie count! 😊 I don’t have an awful lot to lose but would love to get rid of my middle as that’s where it all goes!

Same here, I seem to be getting better from the feet up and the head down but still room for improvement round the middle!
