When I did my 20 min run, I did it on a canal because it was flat. I felt like I cheated a bit. Don't get me wrong, when I completed that 20 mins I was ecstatic, pure joy. But deep down, I didn't think I could run 20 mins on my normal route.
Well today I did my normal route... AND I JUST DID 25 MINS ON THAT BAD BOY!
That was the hardest run I have ever done in my life, and to be honest I'm not looking forward to doing it again, but I'm so, so happy at the moment. That's unbelievable, thank you C25K! Thank you Michael! Thank you everyone!...ππ
You will probably find that the next 3/25 minute runs of week 7 a little easier than run 3 of week 6, by the way congratulations, you are now OFFICIALLY a RUNNER π.
I'm a happy man Al, extremely happy. I'm determined to finish this, but I already feel like I've won.
Well done, it's a brilliant feeling, isn't it? And I know what you mean about "cheating" but if you felt like a flat route would give you a better chance of completing the run, then there is absolutely no shame in that! On yesterday's run (W6, R3), I finally conquered a hill that I have previously had to turn around and run back down. It wasn't pretty but I did it and it felt wonderful!
Congrats Debs! There's no stopping us now. For me, it just means I can just walk out the door and run, rather than driving somewhere because of hills. The doubt/fear has well and truly gone now. Feels good.
If you cheated then they should take my graduate badge off me... not one C25K run of mine involved any kind of hill... well, they did, I ran to the bottom of a hill, turned round and ran away from it.
Great job running 20... itβs not easy, but it will become so soon. Keep proving to yourself just how awesome you really are, keep getting that post run glow and buzz. Enjoy week 6.
That is fantastic!! You are doing brilliantly - and Iβm still mainly avoiding the mountains (erm, inclines), so your motivating me to do more! 25 minutes - I hope your grin lasts & lasts!
This has got to be one of my favourite posts with some great replies! I hate hills! For walking, running, cycling.... Iβll ride a horse up a hill but that really is cheating! Iβve made a great effort with all of my runs so far (end of week 5 too) to stay somewhere fairly flat in an attempt to get them done.
