I think when you look at the next run sometimes we get ourselves in to a bit if a panic, but don't worry take your time go slow and tell yourself you can do this good luck . Come back and tell us how you got on 😊😊
Keep it slow and steady, and you will achieve it. The programme is designed to help you succeed, so believe it in, and believe in yourself. One of my colleagues is an ex-marine and runs every day. He's been very encouraging and helpful to me. As I was starting the longer runs, he told me that successful running is mostly in your head. If you believe you can do it, you will do it. Your legs and your heart and your lungs are telling your brain, 'This hurts! Please let me stop!' Your brain has to be stronger and louder than your legs and heart and lungs and tell them, 'Sure, it hurts, but it won't kill you. Get into your stride, find your pace, and it won't hurt so much. Just keep going.'
I'm 58, and I'm carrying 5.5 extra stone and I graduated last week - it's a Christmas miracle! Believe in yourself, visualize yourself finishing the 25-minute run and you stand a great chance of completing the week on a real high! Good luck and let us know how you get on!
Thanks for that, Amerynthe. I'm usually a very positive person but it just seems a big leap from 2 10 minute runs to 25 minutes. I am 60 years old, not really overweight but I just wanted to exercise in the open air. I hate the gym. I'll let you know how I get on.
Just go for it .. steady & slow and try to remember to look up sometimes!
I am scheduled to do this run on Boxing Day !
Well done!!! I've just done the next 25 minute run, Used mapmyrun to see my distance and speed so I can try to improve over the next few runs.
