As park of my Lenten journey I have been doing the C25K.... one Run left... so doing my 1st parkrun on Saturday as my week 9 final

Really, really can’t believe it, complete beginner, haven’t run since Miss Horsley pulled me out of the 1500 metres ages 14....

Any tips for park run, bearing in mind all my running so far has been at dawn or dusk, so nobody saw me!!

Enjoy this graduation run.

Parkrun is amazing... don’t be sucked in to setting off too quickly, run your own pace and you’ll be fine. Get there early, say hi and be ready for the first timers briefing. Don’t forget your barcode, take several! Put one in the car (if you’re taking it) the day before... another in each running shoe... bluetac one on the back of the door etc... you’ll be wanting your first one recorded. Have fun!

Well WOW! and well done. I always say take up something for Lent. Good advice to ignore everyone else to get your own rhythm going.

Parkrun is just fun. You will get a first timers briefing, but basically take it steady at your own pace - it's not a race, just follow the person in front of you (there will be some a long way in front, but always a tail-walker behind the last person) and you will get plenty of encouragement from the marshals as you go round. You will see all sorts of people running, jogging or walking round. Just enjoy being part of a great event.
