Graduated mid March and haven’t been as structured as I’d have liked since then, roughly doing 2 runs a week with at least one of those 5k. Sunday was my last run 5k and decided to go out in the beautiful morning sunshine today - completely failed I could hardly put one foot in front of the other and ended up just having a nice dog ‘walk’ - I am knackered, work is manic, I gave blood on Tuesday and don’t think I was well hydrated enough (are these just excuses or a factor in my failure?). I’ll put this down to experience and hope the next one is better!
Epic Fail : Graduated mid March and haven’t been... - Couch to 5K
Epic Fail
First of all - Don’t beat yourself up! Hydration is really important, especially as the weather gets warmer. I’ve heard that giving blood affects running for a couple of weeks. Someone else on here commented about feeling drained.
C25k is such a regime, it’s hard to keep the momentum going when it’s finished and you’re on your own. I was lucky in that my partner was already a dedicated runner, who gave up time to make sure I had someone to go out with, and although his pace was much faster than mine, he slowed up and then went for a run after I’d done my 5k!
I’ve subsequently joined a club. They’re not scary people, and have ability type groups. A quick shout out on Facebook and there’s always someone to run with! Great motivation.
Or book yourself into an organised run! You’ll have to be out there doing it then. And don’t forget Parkrun. 5k of fun and excitement coming to a venue near you every Saturday at 9! It’s free, there’ll be lots of people of all abilities there. Great weather this weekend - get yourself a barcode (from the Parkrun website) and give it a go!
Good luck, you’ll get there. 😊🏃♀️
Thanks Katiepops so lovely of you to comment. I have done one parkrun and enjoyed it so I agree that’s a great idea. I know I’m beating myself up over a silly failed run but I was just a bit surprised at my lack of energy and how hard it seemed.
I think Parkrun on Saturday could just be the thing I need
Thank you 😊
