Well I’ve had a thoroughly boring week - I should have doing week 5 this week but instead dog and I have been staring longingly at my trainers willing my sore spot to clear up.... last Friday I tottered about Edinburgh in a pair of not-so-high-high heels, to make matters worse they were middle aged high heels, no glorious glittering stilettos for me. Half way through The Steps (157 of them if my slightly wine fogged memory recalls) I got a twinge in my buttock (anyone whose had sciatica will know the spot exactly). Following morning, which should have been run day, the twinge had developed into a sore spot.. so long story short, patience, hot baths and massage later, I’m hoping to start up again at the weekend.
So, word of warning to all us middle aged runners - when you head out for a night on the town, stick your heels in your bag and wear your fetching flatties to the venue!!!

Aw, that's not nice. I really, really avoid all fancy shoes these days. Even at my own wedding recently I only had almost flat, tiny little heels, couldn't even be labelled kitten heels 🤣 they're just not worth the pain anymore.
In fact when out shopping I only really see trainers now, not heels 🤣🤣🤣

Ooh ouch flatfeet! That sounds horrible - but I’m full of admiration at your even attempting to venture out in heels of any sort. Since my plantar fasciitis last year I’m now your “lady of indeterminate years wearing sensible shoes”. Boring but comfortable (and if that’s not a statement of age, I don’t know what is!!). I hope the sciatica eases off soon!
🤣 you and me both - and we won’t be the only ones😆 I’d rephrase your description to ‘lovely ladies of brilliant age!’ Life’s just great on the other side of forty (though I’m more the far side of forty now) , even if it no longer involves beautiful boots anymore .... still, my younger self would never have had the confidence to don lycra and run in public (rather slowly in my case🤣)
