Hello and welcome to this month’s Quest. Roll up folks, it’s our Spring into Action Quest to help us keep on progressing👍🏼🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻

Please feel free to join in if you have graduated. We will be running these Quests every month, updating weekly, so don’t worry you can join in any time after Graduation, it doesn’t matter when it is even if it is just for the last week.

Also please join if you have graduated and are on the IC, We have found reading and supporting other runners when we are on the IC helps to keep motivation up and helps to still feel part of this community so if you are on the IC put your name down, we will support you all they way back to your first run.

Here is the explanation of what the Quest is.

What the quest is:-

The quest last for a calendar month

You can join any time within that time.

The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

We ask that you are a graduate . The main reason we ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured, so we wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:-

To run three times a week

To slowly increase distance

To train for a specific race

To add In Stretch and strength exercises

As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.

Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.

My advise to you is to make your goals achievable as it is very easy to get discouraged if you aim too high. It is better to aim a little less and feel great at the end of the Quest and add some more in for the next Quest. Motivation is at its best when you feel a sense of achievement through something you are trying to do.

Please don’t forget that all the forums are here for your benefit. They are set up to help with questions and queries as your progress on your running journey. Feel free to join any or all. You will find different levels of help on each forum, so well worth a look around.

We have the Bridge to 10km - this forum is for runners who need a little bit more technical advise than is offered on the C25K.

healthunlocked.com/bridgeto10k

We have the Marathon Running and Race support.

Again this is another step up in the type of advise that is offered and it is there if you should ever need it.

healthunlocked.com/marathon...

We have the Strength and Flex forum, which is set up to help you with the NHS stretches and Strength workouts. Squats, lunges and the like are all in these programs.

healthunlocked.com/strength...

We also have the Active 10 which used to be called walking for health. It is a great forum for sharing your walks on your days off or if you are on the Injury Couch.

Please feel free to have a look round all the forums but also keep in mind we need your help for new runners so you can support and encourage them on the C25K forum as they learn to run, so they can come and join us on these Quests once they have graduated.

Happy running to you all

I can’t wait to see what your Quests are going to be!

Hi Millsie, I think I will do my April Quest on here, so I'm in please.

My Quest for this month is simply to keep building up my stamina, and to add in some distance. I aim to run twice a week. A shorter fun run and a longer one with hills to aim at. I am happy to include some jeffing ( walk intervals) if needed on the longer run and gradually cut them down.

I have also joined the challenge on the Strength and Flex site, so should add I will be doing 45 mins exercise videos (as posted by Rfc) twice a week on non-running days. With sit-ups and glute work.

Add in lots of lovely countryside walks and I'm watching what and how much I eat...🍏🍌

Looking forward to Springing into Action and have started with a 6.2k run this afternoon...

Happy Questing everyone!😊xx

Thats a great plan for a month of mixed exercise BB! The Quest always gives us a chance to mix things to fit our own plans.

Have a great Quest x

Right-ho, not going to strain the imagination this month so I'll be asking 'same again please' of myself viz

16+ days food recording

16+ days yoga (will perhaps expand on this in the S&F forum)

8 swims

8 runs (dipped on the very last one of these last month) because I went for a walk with my husband

In theory, between my father's memorial and our postponed SEND hearing date this month should finally see off some challenges that have both motivated and sapped my personal programmes. Beautiful start this morning, watering my Dad's tree before my swim (I think that counts as weight lifting - 7 litres)

Hi I’ve just graduated today so I’m starting with ensuring I do 3 runs a week and aim to get my distance to 5K by end of month so I can join my 5-10k running group just signed up for!

Morning Millsie-J

What a brilliant suggestion to help us stay motivated and committed to our running. My April Quest will be to run 2 times per weeks at the challenging Ashridge NT estate, and requires a 15 minute drive, and one further run per week round the flatter fields behind our bungalows. I still have a way to go before achieving 5K in 30 mins, but I hope I will have the confidence to attempt the NHS 5K+ Couch to Stepping Stone programme after these consolidation runs are completed. I have also been losing a steady 1 lb a week since November 2018 on WW so should be just within the normal BMI range for my height/weight by then too. SP

Thanks so much Millsie-J. My hubby pointed out - just a minute ago as it happens - that since I started my weight loss journey (ups and downs, but getting there since 2015) I have lost in total 29 lb - more than the box holding all the dumb bells which I just lifted up to get an idea of the weight! That WAS/IS a sobering thought. And now I am getting fitter thanks to C25K AND motivated to keep going. I love being outdoors too, it is helping my mental resilience to all things Alzheimer's with dear mum and every 'bag of sugar' I lose in weight will hopefully make me fleeter of foot too!!! Over and out for now. No need to reply as you are busy enough. All the best meanwhile and I will check in at the end of the month with my progress. SP
