First trailie run

Well, I'd planned a run today anyway but my new trail shoes arrived too so I hastily changed my route idea and set off into the wilds.

Firstly.... what a difference. These trail shoes are super comfy but don't have the same support as my road runners. On fields your feet are going in every direction. I'm sure my ankles will feel it tomorrow.

Through sheep fields and muddy paths... some so bad I was more hopping from side to side than going forward. Gates, kissing gates and stiles, a couple of which were in a bad state of repair. I almost hung myself on one when my foot that was over the fence slipped and I landed on the rail 😲 my poor thigh!

It was all fun though and took me back to my childhood running around with my brother as the sun set.

I'm going to do both road and trail but that was a good start. 4.3 miles again and strava says 44 min inc warm up and down. I'll take that!πŸ‘πŸ˜

Yes, going to do maybe 1 trail to 2 or 3 road until it feels easier. πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Nice trainers. I like Saucony. I have also bought a pair of trail shoes, but have yet to christen them. Hoping when the clocks go forward I can get out into the woods. Looking forward to it.

That is fantastic running.🌟

So if you are saying running time only 34 mins that is 7.9 min per mile.🌟

That is really cracking on.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

As Mentor suggests take it steady.

Have these new shoes got wingsπŸ€”

Just checked the other app... it says same distance in 50 mins so somewhere between the two I guess. First and last miles were slow due to walk and the sheep field was a bit wobbly.... πŸ˜‚

It felt pretty good πŸ‘πŸ˜

Yes, again with your two 5 mins knocked off gives 4.3 miles in 40 minutes =1mile/9.3 mins. Both your figures are way better than 10 km/hour pace , which you know is 1mile/10 mins.

Good luck with your 50 mile cycle race. You will be great.

Got a gym friend , doing it all his life ,pensioner, amazing fitness guy, had a bad experience with a half marathon ,πŸ™ˆ, still runs treadmill, but mostly spinner, outside his own bike, all other cardio stuff, huge all body workout weekly strength, done London / Surrey 100 Miles a couple of years, 6 hours πŸ€” and going to do soon the Loch Ness cycling event.

You will be good, slow and steady.πŸš΄β€β™€οΈπŸ€”πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ‘

Hey JoJo - you are a wonder. You're off on another running planet. I don't think I'll be following in your footsteps just yet, but am in awe! Your speed is amazing! I am currently trying to improve my times without focussing on it too much (as it's not about speed at the moment, I keep being told!). Today I ran more than 3km for the first time (3.2 km), which was really good for me. So I shall try to focus on my improvements rather than thinking about how slow I am! Go girl! πŸ˜€πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

PS: Great pics and shoes!

Don't you worry, it will come. I don't consciously think about speed and I don't always believe the apps.

I'm more focused on duration, if I can keep going without feeling the desire to stop then I'm happy. If it happens I get a good distance too well that's a bonus.

I am trying to increase overall fitness. I've got a 50km cycle Sat that I'm not really prepared for πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ something tells me that won't be so speedy especially uphill!!
