So I have to admit to feeling rather proud of myself today, and with apologies to those who read my very 1st post, I am going to repeat the story of my journey which may help some others.
Last September I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and although I would not say I was totally unfit I weighed 16.5st. I came out of the Dr’s surgery telling myself that if I wanted to see my grandchildren grow up Things had to change!
My partner was already a member of Slimming World and I had previously been a member several years ago. I had rejoined in days.
By Christmas I had lost 2stone. I then thought about Stage 2, regaining some fitness and eventually decided to try the Couch to 5K programme.
So in January I started. My knees were not good and I was not sure wether they would allow me to do it, but I decided to give it a go.
Well this morning I graduated running a distance of 2.94 miles in the 30 mins.Yesterday at my weigh in I passed my interim target of 13st now weighing 12st 11.5lbs and the best news of all was that at my 1st diabetic review by blood sugars had plummeted so that I was now officially. In remission!
What a journey it has been. My Title of this post refers to the message the Bishop gave us at my Confirmation when I was 11, andI thought it was entirely appropriate for this occasion. Because it can’t be the end, I have to move on and forward and that is what I intend to do!
Thanks to all of you who have shared my journey as well as yours with us and I intend to remain on this forum hopefully to encourage others and seek inspiration to continue my own journey. Thank You!
