It was hard going but finished went as slow as I could trying realky hard not to get injured again. Any tips for running while being overweight. I have the right trainers Brooks but just tips for not being so self concious I tend get really red faced as I am fair skinned. 😉😊😊

Good run... well done running it slowly.

I was very self conscious at first... then I thought “screw it”. People were going to see me and there was nothing I could do about it. Hardly anybody really notices people these days... you’ll be an insignificant moment in their day if they do notice. Once I was running past some teenagers and the next lap they all offered high fives... and here’s me thinking they’d think I was too slow... it was a wonderful moment. Also, I like to think that someone will see and think “I should give that a go... if he can, so can I” and that makes me want to be seen more and more!

The red face will improve as fitness does, but as you’re fair skinned you’ll have a rosey glow most likely... that’s just a sign that you had a good workout.

You’re doing great... keep getting out there and enjoying getting fitter and stronger.

+1 for this. I'm sure I look like a beetroot on a warm day when I've been running (I have about 50lbs left to lose having lost 25 already). I really don't care. Anyone who isn't encouraging has never fought the battle you are fighting... if they had they would give you all the encouragement in the world!

Your doing everything right keep going and the red face I still get that I'm like a bright red tomato , but I don't care anymore you wouldn't get that look sitting on the couch now would you 😂😂

Hi Well done on your run, I'd like to think anyone who notices would be quietly supportive (and most people have their heads in their phones anyway), so please don't worry. I turn into Super Tomato Head when I run. Maybe try and make sure you are hydrated before a run? Not sure if it helps. Good luck, sounds like you are doing fine.

If you are carrying extra weight then you are putting extra stress on your joints, so follow the advice in the guide to the plan to minimising impact healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Honestly, very few people are even going to notice you........ and what do you care........ you are getting fit.

If I see an overweight runner then I am filled with admiration for their efforts. I have never been overweight and the idea of running carrying a rucksack with an extra kilo or two in it, is beyond me.

You are doing something very positive, of which you should be very proud.

Go you!

I second all the comments above! I too am overweight and like you focus on going slowly and thinking carefully about my form: good posture, short, almost shuffling strides do you land on your foot underneath your body. It’s really helped me. I quickly decided not to bother about anyone else but I am still self-conscious when lithe fast runners fly past me, but most say hi or well done/keep going. Stick with it x
