So just started wk3...1st time running outside. Due to work and family commitments I just don't have the time to go out so I've been running on a treadmill at home in front of the TV, windows open so my neighbours can hear me panting and cursing myself...however wow wow wow, what a difference running outdoors is!!!! No cursing, not sweating like crazy and meeting other runners on the way, such a friendly and encouraging community. I'm going to have to find a way that I can run outdoors at least once a week... anyway run completed and feel amazing. I feel tempted to run a little further but as I'm new to running, should I stick with the programme?

Yaay! I'm so glad you enjoyed running outdoors. For me that's one of the reasons for getting back into running, it's so good to just be outside, and even if you are hit with rain, wind etc it just adds to the feeling of achievement. And yes, other runners giving encouraging nods and smiles.

I enjoy my one early morning weekend run , the other two are after work and the roads are so busy but I just plug in the headphones and let Michael Johnson and Spotify tunes get me through it.

And yes, stick to the programme !

Stick to the programme! It’s been designed by experienced runners and biomechanics experts to get us to 30 minutes of running with minimal injury risk.

You’re doing great and while you feel the difference between indoors and out, there’s no difference in terms of what it’s doing for your health and fitness. Come out when you can, but the most important thing is to be running.
