I’m known for my dodgy knees on here 😂! U got to rest them. If u try to run when they are painful you’ll make them worse for sure! Have u tried knee supports? Might be an idea when u start up again, have definitely helped me 👍

Take the advice given.. if any exercises were given then do them, We do use these but.... any pain.. stop! We are not medical experts.

Which part of the knee is the pain? I had knee problems for a long time until I bought myself a foam roller, and since I started using it my knees are fine . A foam roller is only £12 and there are many tutorials on YouTube

I will look in to them. Thank you. I believe the dr said it was a tendon or ligament sprain?

As a runner you need to understand your body and when you get professional medical advice, really take on board what is being offered and make sure you get answers to all of your questions. We are not medical professionals so can only offer general advice.

If you read the guide to the plan healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you will see that general advice along with suggestions for minimising impact when you get back out there.

Take care.

Same problem. Tight behind right knee and a general ache around the knee. Went to physio - got new stretching exercises and a foam roller plus simple advice: ‘if it’s sore then rest it’....foam roller works well but after last run I have some swelling so taking a week off (but going to keep stretching) and then back to the programme hopefully. Bummer.

I’ve started using SBC arnica gel on my knees, Achilles, feet. It’s water based, so easily absorbed. Thick layer slapped on after post run shower, leave it to soak in, repeat on rest day. Seems to make a massive difference for me (although I have never had diagnosis for knee problem, just the grimacing whilst desperate clinging on to the bannister as I make my way down the stairs that gives it away).

Find a sports physio to rub your knees! Made a huge difference to mine. Knees are now much stronger after 2 1/2 months of running - I’ve learned a lot of it is about stretching your legs properly after a run

Hi I’d suggest a sports massage it may help to release any tightness around the area hope you get it sorted

Sorry Dave! Look for physio or ostheo (some specialise in sport) and get it seen to, dont wait too long is my advice

I had knee problems to start with

I found using knee supports, hot baths and applying deep heat cream before my runs helpful

I no long use the knee supports but I do still use a bit of deep heat before each run

Hope this is useful

Just a short note on knee supports. They are not the answer for all knee problems and in some cases will do more harm than good. Sports physio would be a good investment. Sore joints, strained ligaments etc are not the same as sore muscles. The usual cure is rest.
