Cycling again

Well evidently I have very good balance and should learn to ride quickly! BUT I get i sharp pain in my knee when I try to peddle. So I’m going to try knee strengthening exercises she also suggested a knee brace. Has anyone else had this problem. If so did you manage to get over it. I can use a static bike at the gym without any knee pain.

Could it be because of the saddle being set too low?

I was really looking forward to my first bike ride of this year but weather decidedly does not permit today, and tomorrow's forecast is even worse.

Could be any number of settings on your bike. Is the saddle too far forward? Is your saddle high enough so that when your leg is fully extended your knee is slightly bent? Do you know a friendly bike shop that could help you? I did have a similar problem and this has hopefully solved it.

Definitely get your stance on your bike checked by a qualified bike mechanic who’s prepared to take time over it. A badly set bike can do permanent damage. My husband is a QBM - shame you’re so far away or I’d send him round 😄

Thank you so much for your advice. It was only a cheap bike from Halfords, not sure where to go with it lol

Oh and the pain is in exactly the same place I pulled my ligament when I first started c25k.

Look on yell.com for local independent bike shops, and phone around until you find one who sounds interested. Halfords do employ qualified mechanics to assemble their bikes, but after sales support can vary. You could try calling them first and see if they’re helpful ? Hope you get it sorted soon x
