Interesting thread: I don’t have any advice but am interested in the responses from more experienced runners as I’d like to go off road a bit more but I don’t know if trail shoes are ok for mixed road & trail, as my runs are likely to be. There is also a Parkrun near me which is 2/3 grass and this time of year is greasy & muddy so really hard work on road shoes
If your buying road shoes go and get your shoes at an independent running shop. You’ll get proper advice and I bet they will make all the difference to you. Much better support and cushioning for road running.

Almost all trail shoes on the market are neutral, based, I believe, on the fact that when you run off road your foot rarely hits the ground consistently because of the uneven surface.
On a track or road there is a much more consistent repetition of the gait cycle, so if you require support shoes, then they are advisable.
You will only know whether you require support shoes (as something like 80% of runners do) if you have a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop...........Sports Direct is not a specialist running shop.
Without appropriate footwear you may be doing yourself harm.

Let me guess: Karrimor brand???
I don't know if you live anywhere near a Go Outdoors store but they have Asics running shoes that are reasonably priced I got a pair for £55 and they are great just a suggestion for you 😊
