Is running more difficult in the wind?

Storm Freya is blowing through Devon but as the rain has stopped I thought I would go for it. On Week 7 run 3 and always find it tough going but today I literally couldn’t catch my breathe the whole way round. I had to slow almost to a standstill just to get round and covered much less distance than usual. Pleased that I didn’t give up and kept going. Can I blame the wind or was it just a tough run?

I found it harder today in the wind with the main problem being trying to breathe! Always a bit slower too as you have that bit of resistance. Well done on getting out!

I quite enjoyed the challenge of battling the elements but was rubbish not being able to breathe 🙄

I headed out on a hill route run, also in Devon, and decided that sticking to the valley was the wiser route.........it was elemental!!!

Of the course the wind has a major impact on ability to run....... well it did with me today.

Yeah, winds are not fun... we get a slight boost with it behind us, but it’s less than the price we pay when it’s against us, and of course if you’re running a circuit then lots of the time it’s trying to push us into a hedge/canal/wall. Great job getting through a tough run.

Blame the wind! I ducked out yesterday morning. Postponed my W8R1 until tomorrow as I ran during the last storm and the wind was knocking the breath out of me. I hope to cover 5K on this run, so didn’t want to jeopardise that unneccesarily. Well done to you forgoing out though!

I ran in the wind yesterday! First time I think I’ve ran on a proper windy day. I found it to be a lot tougher and actually quite tiresome. It does take the wind right out of your lungs.

I just plodded on and got there in the end. But I reckon we can blame the wind 100%!
