Hi Just completed week 1. Trying to get healthy and would love to lose weight too. Did anyone loose weight after getting to week 9?

Welcome to the forum.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

The running by itself will not make you lose weight, but you will lose inches, tone up and feel much better about yourself. With careful calorie control alongside, many have lost significant amounts of weight.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome... very well done on week one.

Running isn’t necessarily a weight loss activity... and in the early months it can actually slow weight loss as the muscle builds. One thing it does do though is burn fat. Muscle is denser than fat, so it’s possible to eat perfectly, run the runs and actually put a little weight on... this can be demoralising... so... grab a tape measure and measure yourself... use those figures alongside the number on the scales... now you’re seeing the full picture. If your nutrition is right and you don’t lose weight, you will still be smaller!

Weight loss may be for aesthetics... but it’s usually done for health reasons. Its possible to be overweight and healthy, likewise you can be perfect weight and unhealthy... the best thing to do is tackle weight and fitness together by eating healthily and getting some cardio exercise in. Running will extend your life expectancy and make you happier with what you see in the mirror... good nutrition will make you lighter... you can have both. Enjoy your journey.

It is possible for you to lose weight but you also have to be careful what you eat as well . Running also changes body shape as I have found out so good luck 😊

I’ve lost 1 stone 4 pound. I’m doing slimming world alongside couch 25k. I’m on week 6. Good luck xx

That’s great... did you start the two at the same time?

Yes I won a 12 week countdown at slimming world on a Facebook page and started the running the same week. It’s worked really well together. Lost a little bit prior to that (heartache 😞) so 2 stone in total gone. Another 2 and I will be happy with my weight x

I started the plan in September and gave myself a few weeks to settle into it before I tackled my diet. I found in the first few weeks I was hungry all of the time and didn’t want to feel light headed or dizzy. The inches started to come off in the first few weeks but my weight stayed the same.I gradually switched my diet to a lower fat, lower calorie option around week 5. Weekdays I’m pretty consistent and fill up on fruit and veg. Weekends I have a treat. I have lost 2 stone and the bmi has gone from 30 to 22.5. I don’t think you will lose much weight through running alone, but it certainly helps!!! - good luck!

I watched my calories all the way through (tried to stick to 1500 a day) and a magical thing happened about at week 7, weight came off every week!!! And lots of it. Lost 2 stone by the time I was about 6 weeks past graduation xx good luck!!

I’ve lost 10lb since starting couch to 5K. I’m on week 7. Not sticking to any major diet, Just potion control and cut down on snacks and chocolate (my downfall)

In spite of more careful eating, I haven’t lost more than a couple of pounds yet, and I’ve been here since the start of September. I was extremely unfit as well as very overweight and I have noticed changes in my body shape, so I’m hoping that I’m developing muscle mass still and that if I go on eating sensibly, I’ll reach tipping point soon. People on formal plans, such as Slimming World, do seem to lose quickest. Don’t know how well it stays off though. All the best with it x

I lost steadily throughout the plan, at about a pound a week, with very careful eating. Since graduating I have not been quite so careful with my diet but am running 5k every other day and losing 2lbs plus each week. The inch loss is a real benefit too though, I am quite a different shape from when I started! I have lost 2 dress sizes.
