Weight loss: Just about to begin a healthy... - Couch to 5K
Weight loss
You might gets lots of replies about running not helping weight loss. Personally I found that it did but in an indirect way. I think it's best to focus on the challenge of finishing the program. I found that by doing that and the feeling of achievement after each run I didn't want to sabotage it by eating rubbish/overeating. Just focussing on weight is misleading too. Regular exercise will change body composition and result in changes you see with a tape measure and your clothes. So basically, try to see weight loss as a long term goal but focus more on short term goals like finishing each run/week on the program whilst making healthy food choices.
In answer to your question, although didn't weigh myself, but I did notice my jeans were looser by the end of the program and lost the remaining excess weight gradually over the next few months.
Fab just as I thought😀
Echo hill runner, I am trying to lose the dreaded porridge stomach and I don't think the running by itself does the weight. But it does seem to be an extra bit of help. After 5 weeks of running I can get back into a skirt that was too tight after my last holiday in May. So do it alongside your healthy food management and you'll get there. P.s don't forget other exercising too
Good luck with next time out
Thanks
Since starting and finishing C25K and to date I have lost 10kg but I swim and ride 5 days a week and run 3-4. I found that the weight loss tends to plateau out after some time, I would like to lose another 10kg but I'm finding that hard.
Good luck with the running and wait lose.
What Hillrunner2201 said. I lost about a half a stone over the course of c25k (took me 11 weeks) but it was in combination with being very careful about what I ate. I didn't want to sabotage the effort I was putting into running by eating stupidly: it became a virtuous cycle.
I didn't lose any weight on C2 5K, but since starting B2 10K I have lost a few pounds.
I'm on week 8 and have lost about 4lbs but an inch on waist and hips. Like everyone else I'm more conscious of what I'm eating now. Still got a looooong way to go on both distance speed and weight loss but at least we're doing something. Onwards and upwards 💪🏼🏃🏼♀️
I've been following slimming world since March and have lost 2 stone so far. July has been my slowest month so far for losing weight even though I have been running (just done W7R2) so i wouldn't say it's helped (it had been quite a social month though 😉). What I have noticed is that even in the weeks when I haven't lost, my body is changing. The fat is being burned 🙌 I also feel 10x better so I don't really mind if the weight loss journey is a slow one. It'll come off eventually and (hopefully) in the right places. Hope that helps 😀
Because it is not specifically a weight loss programme, you may not lose weight, or you may.. I put weight on.. which was good for me...
But, you will feel tighter and more toned and leaner somehow... streamlined I always think of a racehorse when I describe how it feels
Are you on the weight loss forum too? Quite a few folk here are on there as well and find it really works

Linking a healthy eating regime and this terrific programme will certainly make you feel fitter, physically and mentally. So keep posting
Hi,
I dont want t be downer but it wasnt until I was running 20 minutes or more
that I started to loose any weight which was a major dissappointment to me!!
Calorie expenditure on 1/2 hour jog/walk will be 2-300 for most of us. That's, at best, 2 pounds of fat for the whole C25K. Without a dietary intervention you'll be unlikely to lose weight as most people compensate for calories burned.
Weight loss not the best goal for an exercise programme - try and focus on completing and enjoying runs.
On the positive side if you do make a successful nutritional intervention, exercise is associated with breaking the yo yo weight cycling.
If you exercise regularly and eat healthily you should see a change. You just have to be a sticker 🙂
