Decided to ignore the app and just aim for 5k after completing week 5.
Ended up doing 4.3km in 34mins 44secs. I could have kept going if it wasn't for a niggle in my left knee but pretty happy overall!

Just be careful the plan is designed that way for a reason , you could end up with an injury that could put you out of running for a while 😊
Well done but stick to the plan. Going up too quickly can result in injuries. If you’re not going to do the programme, you need to follow the 10% rule.
The niggle in you knee may well be down to the decision that you made... let’s hope that it doesn’t become worse than a niggle.
Sensible runners don’t increase the duration of the runs by more than 10% a week, so I don’t understand why you attempted to go anywhere near 100% increase.
The best advice I can offer is to get back on the plan and learn to do what your coach says... we don’t have a physical coach, but we follow plans... these plans are designed by people who have seen too many runners get themselves injured doing too much too soon. Some people pay for plans, because they’re worth it.
I hope you don’t have an injury and that you don’t have any delayed reaction. I’m not sure what I’d do next in your position... even following the plan would add more risk now to the already increased injury risk... id certainly start with a couple or three days off.
Most people can physically do more than the programme demands but if your body is not conditioned to that level of exercise then you hugely increase your injury risk.
Read this healthunlocked.com/couchto5... which is primarily about pace but attempts to explain why you should not do too much too soon.
Injury could stop you for days, weeks or even months. Let's hope that niggle in your left knee is not serious..........your body is trying to tell you something.
Take care.
This forum follows the nine week C25K....if you are on the forum, then why not follow the plan.. as IannodaTruffe says...injury happens... and hidden injuries are just that...hidden.
Your last post says you ran 22 days ago... so if you have not run since then..., your knee niggle could be an indication of a problem...
Please, just head back and follow the plan... stay safe
