The Wrong Shoes?

After having a gait analysis done on Saturday I was then sold a (very expensive)pair of shoes which are 2.5 sizes larger than my normal! Yes they hold my heel in place and laced well they are comfy but there’s a lot of empty space around my toes. This just doesn’t seem right. Any thoughts welcomed please.

Hi there, this can be quite normal as your feet swell and need plenty of room for the toes to move about doing their natural thing.....and when going down hill your feet will slide forwards and potentially ‘bump’ against the front of the shoe causing possible toe nail loss and problems....,which are not pleasant....😱......this is how I ended up with 2 sizes bigger....

Plus you may wear different socks (thicker/cushioned) depending on your preference....

I run in shoes 2 sizes bigger than my normal shoe size. Sometimes depends on the make too. Did you get to run in them before you bought? They should feel like lovely soft slippers, plus there should be a minimum of a thumb width between the end of your toes and the end of the shoe.

If in doubt go back to the shop, if they’ve spent all that time with you, they will want them to be right for you.

Hope that helps

Mx

Mine are two sizes bigger than my normal shoes. They are perfect for me.

But as Madge50 says, if you dont think they are right take them back and get then checked. Small shoes are the worst thing a runner can deal with....... if your feet hurt you really wont run.

I bought a new pair last week for my daughter...... they gave us 20% off because she is running a HM for charity next month. How nice is that?

It does make sense, just seemed rather excessive. The frustrating thing is I won’t find out till I run in them but if they’re wrong, taking them back ‘used’ is tricky!

Glad to hear the good news story....😊 hope your daughter enjoys her HM

Wear them around the house, using your running socks. Do they slip/ feel odd etc? It’s a good start. Any good running shop will accept shoes back if their advice has been incorrect. I took back a pair of muddy trail shoes early in my running journey, after 10k they became tight across the toe box. Muddy or not, they changed them for me.
