I have been dreading this run although I managed the all the runs before. Like many others on this forum I felt the jump from 8mins to 20 to be a HUGE step.
Well, I did it!! I cannot beleive how ok it was. I won't say easy as i had to slow down about 13-14 mins in but I actually felt like I could have kept going. I do believe I was 'in the zone' ! And now I feel really good! I think this is the first time I actually enjoyed running.
Now looking forward to next week's runs! I can't believe I'm thinking this!

Are you kidding me? I just did wk 5 run 2 last night and struggled with the leap from 5 up to 8! I did it cos Sarah Millican was in my ear telling me to keep going but 20 minutes for the next one??? Flippin heck. I struggled with 1 minute runs just 5 weeks ago.
Hi Rosie - just seen this. I bet you can do the w5r3 if you haven't already. I took it slowly and tried not to think about the time. Good luck!
Congrats on hanging in there. Once you get past the "difficult" part, then it's plain sailing to the tape and beyond. I too felt I could go on and on. It was my favourite run in they program. That's when I realised I could really do it, albeit slowly.
Thanks for the encouragement. I amazed myself by managing the full 20 minutes and felt exhilarated afterwards. I took advice from here and went a wee bit slower than I have been running (easy to do on a treadmill) so that helped a lot.
What you all said about it being psychological is true. I'm still amazed though considering how much I struggled on wk1r1!!
It was the only run where I had a big grin as I finished! My DD1 was on the treadmill next to mine so I got to high five someone who knew how much it meant to me. We will gloss over the fact that she was running at speed 10 and I was going at 6!
I'm just starting week 5 now, so assuming I can stick to the plan, W5R3 will be on Friday. Looking at the plan it does seem like a big jump from 8 minutes to 20 but I'm trusting the guys that put it together know what they're doing and reading so many testimonies like yours on here really is encouraging. So thanks for sharing.
WE CAN ALL DO THIS. It's just like walking, but faster 🤣
