First Run Done!!!

Hi, after thinking about doing this for weeks I finally plucked up the courage and went out this morning. Wow it was really tough but I felt amazing afterwards. It’s quite daunting looking forward and thinking I have to run for 30 minutes solid! But after reading posts on here I realise it is possible. Rest day tomorrow, definitely going to do stretches, bring on Run 2!!

Really well done! Do not worry about future runs, the program works brilliantly. Slowly does it, as long as you are not walking speed does not matter. The hardest thing is getting started and you have done that. The whole community would tell you that we are proud of you, so run with pride.

Well done, it’s an amazing program and amazing people on here supporting everyone. I could hardly run for 60 secs when I first started and now I’m on w7r3. What has worked for me is I make sure I drink 2 litres of water every day, run slowly and enjoy. Good luck on your journey you will love it x

Well done - as previous post says - the coach to 5K app is the best one out there as you improve in such a seamless way, so much easier with someone telling you what to do in your ear - and the best bit - it's free! No gym fees. When I run, I think - this is a free app, I'm running on free ground with free fresh air - listening to free music (I don't mind a few ads on free spotify!) - plus it's soooooo good for the soul/wellbeing - keep it up!

Trust in the programme like a mother. Even when they tell you something you don’t want to hear, they’re always right, right? It’ll see you through. I think all of us had exactly the same trepidation coming into this, but it grows and builds and you’ll get to a point, even in a couple of weeks, where you start feeling positive progress.

Be careful though. It’s addictive, this running lark!

Well done Buntie! As another first timer this week, I’ve decided I don’t want to know what’s coming up - one run at a time for me! I look forward to following our progress over the next weeks! Enjoy!

Well done for getting out there. I've just started too and you're right that it's tough. My legs ache so badly! Later today I'll be heading out for W2R1... wish me luck!

Don't worry, the aches will go away soon enough (to be replaced by other more specific aches probably!) and soon your body will be used to the exercise and you'll feel great! :)

Well done you ! I've just completed my first week ! Funny thing was even after only sessions in week 1 I just felt so much sharper and fitter at walking netball last night!

You’ve taken the most difficult step, starting the program. Well done, on run 1 and good luck on your journey!

Aww thank you all for your messages of support, it really means a lot. I am excited to progress, bring on run 2 tomorrow. I totally agree with Munchbunch7, I paid a gym membership for years, not attending nearly as much as I should've, dreading every workout and paying through the nose. I now have a goal to work towards and looking forward to the journey!! Onwards and upwards xx

The worst bit is over- you'll soon grow to love the program and look forward to your next run! Slow and steady really is the name of the game- enjoy it, and prepare to amaze yourself!! Good luck!

Well done for getting started - IMHO that's the hardest part over and done with. 6 weeks ago I absolutely would not have believed I could ever run for 30 minutes. Yet here I am now looking forward to graduation in 2 weeks and maybe a 10k in Autumn. I know everyone says this, but if I can do it, absolutely anyone can! All the very best with it - just go slow, follow the programme and you will be fine. :)
