Outside or treadmill

Just started week 1 and completed 2nd run. Anyone else doing the couch to 5k on a treadmill? Is it as good as running outside? Feel too self conscious to run outside.

I’ve just competed R1W1 on a treadmill as I’m a single mum with two kids and work full time so don’t get the chance to leave the house

By the time you’re a few weeks in you’ll be less bothered about people looking and more about whether they’re going to get out of the way 😄

I took advantage of the darkness and I run outside in the evening. My plan is I'll be more confident when the light nights come in and then I won't be cooped up in a gym

You do what is right for you.... right now...You may change your mind.. or not... You run this your way.

It is different...very...I love outdoor running... absolutely...but... I use a treadmill when it is icy... or after injury...:)

Many, many folk on here have felt self conscious... and ended up running in full daylight, in funny gear and not giving a hoot... :)

But.. you let it evolve... remember what you are beginning is awesome... and whichever way you do it... that does not change:)

I prefer outside as there is more to look at and listen too etc and nice fresh air (depending where you are). A lot of us feel self conscious but I’ve bought a bright pink running outfit and even wirh that people don’t really take any notice of you!

I do my runs first thing in the morning 6am - 7am, not many people about and beautiful start to the day (although don’t think that when I’m doing it) 😂

Think we all feel self conscious at the start but give it a go and see how you feel.

Me too. Just completed week 2 on a treadmill. I like knowing I can run anytime regardless of the weather and also feel safer knowing that if I can’t complete the run I do not still have to stagger home!

I always run in the dark, in a safe area of course

I hate running in the cold/ wet/ dark so use the treadmill then. In the summer I love running outside where I find my good place. Most importantly, do what works best for you.
