What is Your Week? February ...Week 3.

Hello...it is me, yet again.. and welcome to another running week...

:)

Dare we hope that for some of us at least..that Spring is making her tentative way...into our running days:)

Some glorious spells of sunshine.. and the appearance of the snowdrops and the sharp green shoots of daffodils... are signs that this youthful year is moving on.

Our numbers still, wonderfully, continue to rise... and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates.

So, come and join the fun.... Let us know how it is going :)

Hi All

I did W5R3 today (very slowly, but I didn't have to stop), and feel fantastic!

I never thought I would be able to get this far, and am looking forward to doing more.

Good luck everyone

Lauren

Hi, well life has got in the way a bit this week. I havenโ€™t run since Sunday. Iโ€™m out early tomorrow morning and hoping to add a few mins extra onto the time. Iโ€™m not at home this week so Iโ€™m just going to go out and run!

Dear Oldfloss,

As I walked the dog through the snow this week, I think I heard spring birds' sounds amongst the winter birds' songs. We have not gone out on the road, as it is still too icy and dangerous from possibly sliding cars, so our runs and walks have been aborted for now. I've been shoveling snow this week for some exercise.... Today it's even difficult to walk in the drive since it's icy. Wishing for spring! <3

Always best to stay safe in those conditions xx

I did W6 R1 today. I thought that I'd try the local park run route which is 3 laps... I managed 2 full laps in the given time including the pre and post run walks. I'm not sure if the whole Park Run thing appeals to me. Especially since I'm not much of one for big crowds and I'm enjoying the escapism of my solo runs. Maybe it's a notion I will have to work on xx

Well done you...slow and steady and enjoying the run:)

. Don't rule PR out... It took me 3 years to get round to it, at the end of2018...because I am a solo runner also... but... I did want to try it and..this morning, am meeting up with friends from the Bridge to 10K forum... whom I have never met and we are going to run one together... my second. :)

Well done angelbetty! I run alone and don't have the confidence to do a park run yet at least you are getting out there so brave!! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The park run meets on a Saturday, I tried the route on a Friday. It was strange going past other people, never mind runners Lol x

My first week back running after a 4 week break due to a calf strain... taking it slow and steady and plenty stretches. Had gait analysis and got new trainers... hoping they will help me avoid further injury!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduateโ€ข in reply toWibbly_wobbly

There is no average.... Just run the runs... a slow and steady conversational pace.. and enjoy!

The idea is to get to the 30 minute runs in Week 9..injury free and having had fun:)

Well done you!

Hi all. After getting back into running again at the start of January following a break in December I decided to set myself some realistic new year wishes for myself.

1. Lose weight - I need to lose just over 2 Stone. So far I have lost 16 pounds in weight with just one stone to go.

2. Get my red 50 Parkrun T-Shirt. Iโ€™m at 29 now and will be running no. 30 on Saturday. On track.

3. Get a sub 30 minute 5K Parkrun time before the 16th of May. Ran 28:32 last weekend at a Parkrun. I was thrilled and still am. Ran a 5K Training run last night in 29:52. So now I am aiming for under 28 minutes.

4. Run a 10K race and get an official time. Entering a 10K towards the end of April. A fund raiser for my 2 boys school.

Iโ€™m not normally one for new year resolutions, but Iโ€™m 45 on the 16th of May and I want to be fit and healthy. Thanks to this amazing forum and Parkrun I am going to get there and hit my resolutions. Salad for lunch ๐Ÿฅ—. This weeks goal is a PB time at my local Parkrun for my 30th one. And lose 2 lbs in weight.

Damien

Had a week off work and itโ€™s been great going out for runs at 8am instead of 6pm! Had to repeat w4 r3 as been Iโ€™ll for 2 weeks but yesterday I completed w5 r1 and loved it. Running that far I didnโ€™t think would have been possible 5 weeks ago. Proud of the achievement and encouragement from everyone on here and of course listening to Jess Glynne as I run as well as Laura the coach motivating me. Looking forward to running tomorrow.

Great stuff!!! Lovely early morning running is fantastic:) Enjoy you run tomorrow... I am just off to Park Run in a short while :) x

W1 R1 just completed! Iโ€™m red, sweaty, coughing, but managed to do some Pilates and good stretches after. My children think I have gone mad. Please tell me it gets easier and I wonโ€™t always look like a beetroot!

Papillon17 profile image
Papillon17Graduateโ€ข in reply toNorfolkmummy

Well done you, it will get better and easier. Music comes with the podcast if you just use the app you only get whatever trainer you have picked. I use music downloaded to my phone and when Laura speaks the music is turned down so you can hear her. You wonโ€™t always look a beetroot but over the weeks you will have various shades of colour over that time. Good luck and stick at it. Your kids will be proud when you complete it and can run.

Norfolkmummy profile image
Norfolkmummyโ€ข in reply toPapillon17

The kids are very interested in what I am doing. I have done exercise in and off since they were born and they have always wanted to join in when I do things. Now they are older there is no reason they canโ€™t come on runs with me ๐Ÿ˜ป

Papillon17 profile image
Papillon17Graduateโ€ข in reply toNorfolkmummy

Absolutely get them out there if they are old enough and able.

I set the C25K to play but there was no music. I need music in my running life. Can I play Spotify and use the app at the same time? Or is there one of the options that has music in it? Iโ€™m sure there used to be music?

Granspeed profile image
GranspeedGraduateโ€ข in reply toNorfolkmummy

My app works with my own music - just dips volume to hear Laura. I think the podcasts come with built-in music.

Great Iโ€™ll give it a go when I do my next run! Thank you ๐Ÿ˜Š
