Nearly there!

I hoped that by the time I was 50 I would be at my goal weight. It didn't happen! Never thought about health & fitness. Then I got breast cancer at 57 and my thinking changed.

In April I will be 69 and I am definitely now at my goal weight and best fitness for decades, with Pilates, jogging and water-fasting now introduced into my regime. Just got one more week to go and three runs to complete the 30 minutes jogs. However, I will still need to go faster over the next weeks, in order to get to 5K.

Keep going and don’t worry about speed for now - endurance will build that! What’s water-fasting btw?

By fasting over a period of several days, drinking lots of water but not eating, it allows your own body fat to be used for energy instead of food. This in turn ‘eats up’ all the pre-cancerous cells, the cells which have a potential to create heart disease, thyroid problems, diabetes, dementia etc (it’s called autophagy).

Water-fasting gives one mental clarity, loads of energy and is definitely a winner!

Speed? These much younger, long-legged, muscular males pass me by on the promenade, by the sea. I just think it’s miraculous I can jog at all! I’m not worried about speed!

Very well done on your progress.

There is no need to go any faster. The graduation requirement is that you run three thirty minute runs.........the 5k is something to aim at later if you don't get there during the programme..........less than 15% of graduates manage a sub 30 minute 5k by graduation.

Nearly there..........

Don’t worry about the distance. I’m due to graduate on my next run and have only just reached 3k ! You’re doing magnificently ! Enjoy your graduation week and remember - 70 is the new 30 ! Go you !

Hope you get to do your graduation run somewhere with fresh air. I’m planning to do mine in a landscape of snow-drops!

Not brilliant! Just mad!!!!

I decided to tell my Facebook friends about Couch to 5K otherwise I was afraid I would stop after the first couple of sessions. It worked. Because people ask me how the running is going, when they see me, it has spurred me on to complete the 9 weeks.

I’m walking 10K of the Jerusalem Marathon in March, but because the people who sponsored me thought I was running the whole marathon, that got me thinking about the possibility of running some of it. That’s why I started the Couch to 5K. It’s thanks to my very generous sponsors.
