I've just completed Wk 8 of C25K, I've managed now to run 4k several times, and 5k twice. I've got Wk 9 and beyond to consolidate all this which is good.
I'm feeling good, but for the life of me right now I cannot imagine pushing on further in terms of time and distance. I realise it's early-ish days, but just wondering how you all approached the next step up to mastering 10k? I am in no hurry, as my 10k run is not until July, but wanted to start to mentally prepare myself for the jump to convince myself that I WILL be able to do this!
Thanks in advance.
FWIW, I'm a nearly 50 year old female and I've never done anything like this before.

Well done..just finish the programme of C25K... get those 30 minute runs done and Graduate.. then..more consolidation... mix things up a bit...new routes, short routes... 30 minute runs and some lovely long slow, see where you get to. runs.
It is the long slow runs which build up stamina, distance and maybe speed...
Then.. when you have graduated.. move across to Bridge to 10K for some great ideas
Thank you, yes, consolidation needed, but I just have NO mental picture of me covering more ground!! Not aiming for speed in particular. Where is "Bridge to 10k? Is it part of this page?
When you graduate I will send you a link to a guide to post C25K running, which gives advice about moving forward.
Moving from 5k to 10k is so much easier than doing C25K from a non running base, but like C25K there is no jump, just a steady progression, if that is what you want to do........ you don't have to if you don't want to.
I don't suppose you could imagine running for thirty minutes when you were in the throes of W1..........
So true, but as each week has passed I have felt that there is “more in the tank” to progress to the next week and I don’t yet have that vision for after week9!
But one thing at a time so I will look forward to graduating and then looking at the guide to the next stage.
Ju-ju’s bridge to 10km program lays it all out for you. Hop on to the Bridge to 10km forum and take a look. If you’re already managing 5km you’re already amazing! It took me another couple of weeks after completing C25k to get to 5km.See you on the bridge!
