So I hit the week 4 brick wall today. Seemed such a leap to go to 5 minute running when I was struggling last week on 3 minutes. Took me over 2 hours to get my trainers on this morning, found every job I could do rather than face that run but then I found this site and your posts made me realise I wasn’t alone so I just went and did it and it was absolutely fine.
I used to be a regular runner but I put weight on and stopped and I’ve struggled to get goi g again. I know I can do it now. Today seemed impossible.

The mind is a powerful tool. I found myself saying 'I can't do this' 'It's too much' 'I need to stoooooooop!!! HOWEVER someone advised swopping that voice to 'I CAN do this' 'I AM DOING THIS!' 'Today is going to be a fabulous run!'. And you know what I DID IT! Keep positive, you absolutely CAN do this!
It is possible, you can definitely do it! And even better you’ll enjoy it. Don’t think too much, just put the running gear on and then you might as well get out there
I felt the same but faced WK4R1 today too and whilst it wasn’t easy, I didn’t die either! Amazing what you can achieve with a bit of positive thinking! By the end the euphoria was worth it!
Try not to focus on the length of the individual running portions of each session - like "5 minutes" or " 3 minutes". Instead, look at the TOTAL amount of time you're spending on your feet ... that'll give you greater confidence I think.
