Week 2!

First run of week 2 tonight. Found it a struggle even though it was only 30 seconds more per run? Do you get past this? Finding it really good for my mood but struggling to believe I’ll ever run for a solid 30 minutes!

You will... each run makes you stronger... slow and steady... you will do this:)

Well done. Yeah, you get past it... the act of running gets easier, but you do it for longer, so it stays challenging... but you will get to 30 and you will find it easier at some point. Keep that pace comfortable and keep ticking the runs off, fitness and strength are building all the time.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

You can make it easier for yourself by running at an easy conversational pace as recommended in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

When I first started the app I started my gps tracker and walked along my running route to see where the 2.5k turning point was, couldn’t believe how far it was, and stood at the spot thinking no way can I run this far never mind turn round and run back. Now at end of week8 I find myself within spitting distance of that point, not that I would as I’m a lady 😂 but just goes to show the programme will sneakily get you further and further until you will be doing things you once thought were impossible. Just put your trust in the app and believe that you, like thousands before you, will get to graduate one day, at your pace. Good luck

You're doing great. Week one is out the way. Week two runs are only 9 minutes worth of running - an extra minute from last week. As Oldfloss says "slow and steady", that's the way to go. You're stronger now, you can do the extra minute.

Heya FVRF. I'm on week 7 and running 25 mins without breaks. When I first did week one I was gasping and wheezing and struggled to complete the runs.

Just trust in the program and repeat a week if you feel you want to build upon it and before you know it you will be amazed!

I actually find the longer runs easier than the short ones now so technically your on the harder portion of the program and it gets easier! Even though it looks opposite!

... and of course the reason it feels like that, is because each one of the runs in the plan makes us stronger:)

Thanks for posting this - I begin week 2 on Saturday - your question and the encouraging responses have both reassured me - that it’s going to be harder... but not <that> hard. I hope. 😳
