Week 8 run 2 done! This worked great!

Hi all. I’ve just completed week 8 run 2 which is a 30 min run (I use a different C25K app so not sure if it’s the same format as Laura’s one!) I can’t quite believe it! I’m asthmatic and couldn’t run for 30 seconds at start, let alone 30 mins! Generally though, I was finding the first 10 mins of a run just awful and I felt so breathless so today I did a proper 7 min warm up which gets your heart rate pumping and fires up all the muscles. I couldn’t believe the difference it made. Thought I’d share in case anyone is struggling like I was! My graduation run is for 35 mins on Friday! Bring it on!

Hi

I always find the first 10 mins - and sometimes more - tricky with my breathing all over the place and no consistency in pace so I'm interested in anything that helps. What sort of thing did you do for your 'proper 7 min warm up'? Thanks!

Hi there. This is the video I used. Before I was just stretching and nothing else but this warms up everything including heart rate! Started really slow and built up little more speed as I ran. Hope it helps!

Good grief. I feel exhausted just looking at it. And I am impressed that anyone could just up and start running after that lot! My level of fitness has a way to go before I’m ready for it but may try some of the initial arm business just to get started!!

I’d never run before I started C25K last September nor done any regular exercise... so I think I’ll just plod on with my 3x5k each week and hope that gradually my stamina builds!! Thanks for the link tho. It was an eye-opener for me!! 🙂🥴

Interesting stuff, I’ll have a look at this and might try it myself.

Thanks very much for sharing this.

By the way, isn’t your graduation 🎓 next week, ie at the end of week 9 ?

Sorry if I’ve misunderstood.

Either way, happy running 🏃‍♀️ 🏃‍♂️👍

No problem. I’m using a different couch25k app which is 8 wks long so last run is 35 mins and hoping to do it on fri all going well! 🤞
