Im doing this. Completed W2R1 last night. Far better than last week although my calves tighten about half way which makes run part difficult (although still do able very slowly). Any ideas how I can stop that happening?

I have tried different shoes.

Well done..very early days..and aches and pains are common. Warm up really well and stretch after the run. Try the stretches in the post for Newbies...

Try to land lightly ...I call it kissing the ground with your feet....😉

I’ve invested in a pair of compression socks, I wear them under my leggings. I find they help. They are only a few £’s.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes links to stretches which should be done after every run.

Enjoy your journey.

Thanks. I will give it a read. I have also joined a club to do it and they have been great and the group this year is really big which is lovely for company twice a week. I have run before but stopped 10 years ago after a bad run (time wise) and I have kicked myself recently as that time (and my weight then) I would now be proud of!

I have ordered compression socks thanks to the help on here and hope they will be of use. I hope that when my weight drops a bit that might help too.
