Hi, just wondered where everyone does their runs? I have an old railway line which is now a cycle/walking path near me that I use. Don’t want to get bored of the same route though! Is running on ‘rough’ ground harder or easier than tarmac?
Where do you run?: Hi, just wondered where... - Couch to 5K
Where do you run?
I usually run some quiet back roads near where I live but have been getting board so one day a week I am going to try and head to the seafront or local wood.
I don’t mind off roading/pavement if it’s not too muddy but worry about slipping in mud and injuring myself. It’s a confidence thing for me.
Probably running on rough ground is harder, (though apparently good for the balance,) because of trip hazards. Being an older runner, I prefer smoother, harder ground - no rabbit holes or tree roots to trip me up. Mind you some pavements are fairly uneven. In the end, to each their own - try a different surface, see how you feel. All good fun! Enjoy your running 🙂🌻
Just different... all of the runs... I love the fields and tracks...it can at certain times be softer running, although uneven..mud is always fun... and pavement pounding can get boring.. so... shake it up and vary it... it will all help to make you stronger and you will find out what is your favourite
I use 4 different parks, 2 I run on grass, one on tarmac, the other is tarmac and then muddy hilly bit.
Harder in which way? Grass is easier on the joints than pavement as it gives less impact, but it saps energy more. I find myself automatically going faster on tarmac, but do most of my running on grass.
